Like father, like daughter "Nirin and Saendee" Two close friends who have proven themselves and earned the chance to sign with a major label, sharing their first candid thoughts after being linked to drama about star kids using connections, and revealing some behind-the-scenes stories. "Mom Ning and Mom Oh" Known as strict mothers, they openly clarify their relationship with "Beena" Are they still close? On the show "Kuy Zaap Show" on One31, hosted by "DJ Puth Phuthichai" and "Peggy Srithanya" they conducted the interview.
How do you feel about signing as trainees with Loveis?
Nirin: I feel very excited and happy that P'Jeab (Thep Arj Kawin Anan) noticed us. Saendee and I auditioned for many labels, so I’m glad P'Jeab saw us and believed we could develop, giving us this opportunity.
How did you feel when you found out you passed the audition?
Saendee: At first, I didn’t think I’d get in because I felt I didn’t do well. P'Jeab was in the audition room and immediately asked me to sign. I was like, 'Thank you, P'Jeab. I love you.'
Did you feel pressured since you auditioned many places but only got accepted here? How intense was the pressure that day? Audition ?
Nirin: For me, during auditions at many places, I didn’t get accepted—maybe because I hadn’t developed enough or wasn’t skilled enough. Coming here, I pressured myself because I really wanted this label. At first, I kept telling myself I had to get in; 'no' was not an option. If I didn’t get in, I’d be sad and not know what to do next. I also didn’t want my mom to be embarrassed, so that added pressure.Auditionpartly.because I really wanted this label.I kept telling myself I had to get in; 'no' was not an option. If I didn’t get in, I’d be sad and not know what to do next. I also didn’t want my mom to be embarrassed, so that added pressure.
Saendee: I was very pressured. P'Jeab called everyone in the company to watch me. I was scared. P'Jeab asked if I had prepared songs, but I didn’t know what to sing. I ended up showing 5-6 songs because I prepared a lot. P'Jeab wanted to see them all, so I was pressured.
Did they have you sing and dance in the room?
Nirin: They asked me to sing one song to show my vocal power, one song to sing and dance, and a special performance to show other skills. I played piano and sang. I showed about 5-6 songs in different styles.
What song did you think was your best performance that day?
Nirin: "DREAM" by BABYMONSTER.
Saendee: "Lose Control."
You train hard even as trainees and have to attend school. How do you balance your time?
Saendee: Actually, P'Jeab cares a lot about school. I told her that if rehearsals are scheduled, please don’t make them too late and please do them after school.
Nirin: I rehearse fully on weekends. My mom isn’t strict about what time I finish but wants me to do my best. She insists I must not fail my studies. On my first day after auditioning, P'Jeab told me not to neglect school, and if grades come out, to show her. We have to study well. P'Jeab told my mom that if I misbehave or if mom can’t talk to me, mom can call her and she’ll talk to me. She’s like family, not just our boss. My grades aren’t out yet (laughs).
Do you enjoy being in the company?
Saendee: It’s very fun.
But there are tears too. What happened?
Nirin: For me, I’m not overly pressured or stressed or sad. I feel everyone in the company is like family, not just colleagues. Everyone is nice and supportive. But there’s some pressure because I feel I’m not good enough and haven’t developed enough.Glowthat I want, I cried.
Saendee: I felt pressured. When I joined, everyone else was already close, so I felt pressured and didn’t know who to talk to. I cried to my mom. Some people did well, but my dance teacher said I could do better. At first, I thought I was good at dancing, but in the company, I felt like I couldn’t do anything.
How often do you cry?
Saendee: Mom, how often do I cry? (asks Mom Oh)
Nirin: We all cried together. I have a LINE group with three seniors and five trainees. After every show, everyone cried. One persongot hoarse, some sang wrong. P'Jeab comforted us, but I felt I could do better. I cried for 10 minutes until the teacher said, 'It’s okay, dear, calm down.'
A true star spirit. Mom Oh, how often does Saendee cry?
Oh: Honestly, she rarely cried as a child, but once she joinedtrainee one day,she cried hard on the ride home. As a mother, I tell her it’s okay. Saendee was barely stressed. When I saw her, I said, 'It’s okay, Saendee, you’re determined.' Sometimes she didn’t understand what she was asking, which made her sad. I cried with her and told her to be strong; she had many challenges ahead. After a day or two, she was okay.
Saendee: Then I cried again the following week (laughs).
Oh: If new trainees come, she cries again. It’s okay. Those are tears of a child wanting to learn and happy to do it.
Nirin: Being atraineeand crying is normal. There’s some stress, but P'Jeab encourages us.
Is Mom Ning proud?
Ning: Very proud of both because we’ve been there since the day they auditioned.AuditionAuditionand felt down, talking and comforting each other. Ultimately, we want to encourage them and give them a chance to develop. I always tell both not to think I’m only strict with Nirin; I’m strict with Saendee too.Nirin: She’s very scary (laughs).
Ning: In working life, we must develop, be disciplined, love the profession, and uphold its ethics.
Did anyone say you got in because you’re star kids?
Nirin: Yes.
How do you feel about comments like that?
Saendee: Nirin feels sad; I feel angry.
Nirin: I don’t feel stressed, just discouraged. I talked with my mom and thought if the rumors aren’t true, one day people will see. I’m not angry at those writing such things because they have the right to think that way. If I were them, I might think the same. But I feel if we prove them wrong, it’ll be okay. I believe they will give us a chance.
More or less,I followed all the steps, auditioned at many places and didn’t get in, but P'Jeab saw something in me and Saendee and accepted us. So I ask everyone not to judge us too quickly.Saendee: I feel angry, like punching. I don’t like people insulting me. They have the right to think, but they don’t need to say it. At some point, when it’s possible, it makes you discouraged, but I feel more angry than sad.Did you even tell Mom Oh and P'Jeab that if you’re not talented enough, they shouldn’t accept you?
Saendee: The day I auditioned and signed the contract, I felt I did very badly. I didn’t dare watch the video. After P'Jeab accepted me, I asked my mom if it was because I was really good. That day I felt I did terribly. I asked my mom to tell P'Jeab to remind her that if I’m not good, she shouldn’t accept me.Do you know what you wanted to be since you were born?Nirin: I knew from birth that I was born for this—to be a Loveis artist. When I was born, I didn’t cry; I sang.
Ning: When Nirin cries, she has colic and cries all the time, but when I play music, she immediately stops.
Did you want Nirin to enter the entertainment industry?
Nirin: When my mom told me the entertainment world has good and bad sides, she wanted me to be a surgeon because then I could get free clinic visits. But I really wanted to enter the industry. As a child, I knew I wanted to be an artist but wanted to try different things, like acting. I asked Uncle Noo to let me act. Mom didn’t know, but Uncle Noo told her to let me act. That drama opened my way into the entertainment world.
Is being an artist and singing and dancing important to help you forget bad things?
Nirin: What I really want is that when I argue with friends or have big problems with my dad, I want to forget and not be stressed. Singing and dancing really help me relax and motivate me to shine.
Did your father send congratulations through your grandmother?
Nirin: Yes.
Why didn’t he congratulate you himself?
Nirin: I still love my dad and everyone. I understand his choices and respect his decisions. I believe he wants to be happy. I haven’t contacted him because I don’t want to cause problems or stress him about me being angry. If there’s anything, he can tell grandma. But don’t worry; I still love my dad and am okay. Just neutral now, no drama.
Ning: She’s grown, she’s 13. She has the right to think and decide her path. If it’s the right and good path, as her mother, I respect her decision.
Was there
a time
when Nirin was unhappy but now she’s bright and ready to shine?
Nirin: I’m happy because P'Jeab gave me the chance.
Did you consult your mom about entering the industry? What advice did she give? Nirin: My mom told me to walk my own path first but I can ask her if I have problems, like dealing with drama, how to improve myself in the company, or what to do if I feel I’m not good enough. I ask her. Saendee: I don’t consult much because my mom can’t dance or sing.
Oh: (laughs) Saendee is very young and thinks simply. She’s determined and wants to do her best. She’s liked dancing since she was a child. At 12, she said if she only dances, she won’t become an artist and should learn singing. She studied singing for just over a year and has improved.
How do you feel about your child being an artist when you can’t sing or dance?
Oh: I’m proud. I’m not good at anything at all.
Saendee: She’s beautiful.
Oh: Of course. Otherwise, would she look like me? I’ve seen her since she was little. She loved dancing early on but said at 12 that if she only danced, she wouldn’t be an artist and needed to learn singing. After a little over a year of singing lessons, she improved.
Was there drama saying you got in because you’re a star kid?
Oh: I saw my daughter’s tears. No one said anything to me, but I saw her crying when she trained, signed, and waited. I thought people would talk eventually. When she did a live broadcast, I spoke up that Saendee was very determined. I know her intentions, and since the company is big, I believe they considered carefully before accepting her. It’s not just because she’s my daughter.
Did Nirin face the same comment?
Ning: I always tell her. Nirin already acted, hosted, and worked before, so it might not be so harsh for her. I tell Nirin that every time we get an opportunity, we must work well. No matter what people say, Nirin must prove herself with her work. If her work is good, no one can say she’s just famous because of her parents. So if she feels she isn’t good enough, she should develop and keep working, turning weaknesses into strengths. I’m pretty strict about work and discipline.
Nirin: She’s straightforward and doesn’t use emotions but speaks directly.
Since when have you and Beena been close?
Nirin: Since birth.
How did you support Beena when she faced drama?
Nirin: I gave her encouragement. Recently, I invited Beena to have dinner with friends, including Saendee and another friend. Beena was stressed and cried to me, and I supported and encouraged her that it would pass. We still have fun and meet; I still love Beena.
Saendee: Me too. When the drama happened, I texted her asking if she was okay. She replied yes. When we went to dinner, I went with her.
Did Beena start out like Panirin entering singing and dancing?
Nirin: At first, I liked being an artist and dancing, but I didn’t know if I’d be solo or in a group. I hadn’t found my style. Beena was crazy about K-pop and T-pop. She has every album. She invited me to sing and dance, and that’s when I realized I wanted to be in a girl group. When we went to Singapore, Beena played Blackpink and choreographed dance moves. Then I knew what I wanted.
Is she the friend who made you clearly see that you wanted to be an artist?
Nirin: Yes.
You often sing and dance together. Do people think you will debut as a duo?
Saendee: Actually, it’s up to P'Jeab, but we told her we don’t want to debut as a duo.
Nirin: Probably as a group. We told P'Jeab, who listens to the kids’ opinions. Being a duo is quite difficult. I feel it doesn’t look good standing on stage just the two of us. I want 4-5 people standing in a line.
Oh: I want them to debut as a duo. Two people look beautiful.
Ning: I secretly watched their rehearsals and understood why they don’t want to debut as a duo. When singing as a duo, you have to face each other and exchange emotions. Try making them do that and see what happens.
What happens when you look at each other?
Nirin: We’re too close. The song is very sad, but when I look at my friend, yesterday during rehearsal, Saendee burst out laughing. The teacher asked what was wrong, she said nothing. We can’t look at each other. So we decided if we debuted as a duo, we’d just laugh. But when performing with five seniors, it feels right. Honestly, our personalities are too different, so we want to debut in a group.
Who in the company is in your group?
Saendee: I’m already considering. Actually, I want to train with new people, anyone. I want friends.
Nirin: I want to debut with the group I’m training with because I don’t want anyone missing. I love them all; they’re very kind to me. I want us to go together.
Ning: Do you want to debut as an international artist?
Saendee: I already think it’s better to be with a Thai label from the start. Starting in another country would be difficult.
Oh: Afraid it would be hard.
Nirin: I want to perform at Coachella, but I wouldn’t want to live abroad. If I can’t see P'Jeab, I’d cry. I love P'Jeab.
Saendee: I love P'Jeab, love, love, love.
What is the event on 30 May where you’ll perform together?
Nirin: ULTRASOUND, House of Trainees at LIDO. It’s the debut concert for Loveis trainees.
Saendee: The label posted on Instagram, but it’s random because the hall with 600 seats is almost full. Initially, it was full at 500 on the first day.
Nirin: All relatives and trainees combined are 146 people. Our family will go in big numbers. Everyone can watch. The stage will explode.
Ning: Usually, these two are good at singing and dancing fast songs, but this time they got a tough challenge to sing slow and difficult songs and stay still, not dance.
Nirin: That’s why we can’t look at each other.
Ning: Follow Loveis Entertainment’s Instagram for details.
What do you want to say to fans?
Nirin: I want to thank fans, Ning-Thanya, for supporting us from day one, encouraging us, and always helping us. I love you all very much and thank you for giving us the opportunity. We will improve and not disappoint.
Saendee: Actually, I don’t have many fans, but those who have been with me from the start, I want to thank you very much (hands in prayer). I’ve been dancing since who knows when. If you can’t come, wait for the next event. Thanks to fans, Thanya and Ning. I’m in the fandom but no one knows who I am because I don’t use my real name.
Will you give it your all in the upcoming event?
Saendee: Yes, I will. I’m scared, too. Please watch.
