Regarded as a national husband and truly devoted spouse, the cool-looking singer and actor Hugo Chulachak Chakrapong recently appeared alongside his beautiful wife Hana Tatsanawalai to open up to Thairath Entertainment about his acting career. He revealed that his wife fully manages his finances and shared a strict rule that he refuses to do love scenes because he fears they might affect his family life.
We heard that your acting fees must be discussed with your wife, Hana?
Hugo said, "Yes, of course. Financial matters are handled by Hana. But it also depends on the role. If it's an interesting role, I'll read the entire script."
What kinds of roles does Hana want to see Hugo take?
Hana said, "I want to see him take all kinds of roles because I want him to have many opportunities."
Hugo added, "She doesn't want to see me doing love scenes."
Hana said, "Huh? He doesn't want to do them himself."
Hugo said, "That's true. There are limits to what I can do. I have to accept that if something makes me uncomfortable, I shouldn't do it. I will only do what I am comfortable with."
Is that Hugo’s strict rule?
Hugo said, "Yes. I'm emotionally sensitive. It's probably not good for me to physically touch others regularly. Others can do it, and I respect that. But looking at Hollywood examples..."
Hana said, "You don’t want to come home and have problems, right?"
Hugo said, "No. They get emotionally involved with the leading ladies. If you look, not talking about the Thai industry but Hollywood, big movies from the 1990s and 2000s, see what they did. They acted in such scenes and ended up divorcing. It’s tough."
Given Hugo’s character, is it necessary that his roles be hard-edged and raw? What’s your view?
Hugo said, "Not necessarily. I might not be good at highly romantic roles, like classic love stories such as 'The Storm That Breaks the Sky.' I like those films—they're among my favorites to watch—but I have to know my own boundaries."
Does someone help check and screen the scripts?
Hana said, "I help by reviewing scripts at an early stage and also check the payment figures (laughs)."
Are you both satisfied with this arrangement?
Hana said, "Yes."
