On 27 May 2026 at the Thai House Museum of Puangpuang Duangchan, located at No. 211, Moo 10, Sak Ngam Subdistrict, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, the family and fans of the Queen of Luk Thung gathered. “Puangpuang Duangchan” led by Ong Salakjit Duangchan, Kai Janjuang Duangchan, Jim Duangjai Duangchan, and Mr. Nares Chitrahan came to change the outfit on her statue ahead of the 34th anniversary of her passing on 13 June 2026.
Besides the statue at Wat Thap Kradan in Suphanburi Province, there are two statues in Kamphaeng Phet where fans and those who still cherish the late renowned Luk Thung queen Puangpuang Duangchan come continuously to pay respects and make wishes.
This year, the outfit change for Puangpuang Duangchan at the first location—outside where her ashes are kept—was originally a blue outfit but was changed to a green-toned sari. At the second location, which was previously a white outfit inside the area used for merit-making and storing her shoes, belongings, and photos, the outfit was updated to a red two-tone Indian-style costume.
Both statues received new makeup, nail polish, hairstyles, and were sprayed with the signature perfume Puangpuang Duangchan wore at concerts. The siblings present expressed their heartfelt intention to care for their beloved sister as they do every year, confident she was close by throughout.
After changing the outfit at the first location, Ong Salakjit drew a fortune stick to provide a lucky number for participants, which was “27.” The second outfit this year was Indian-inspired because Pi Phueng loved Indian-style clothing. All the jewelry used were cherished pieces she treasured in life. While storing the old white outfit in the cabinet, a strange occurrence happened: a green snake shed its beautiful skin inside the cabinet, an unusual sight.
Ong Salakjit, Kai Janjuang, and Jim Duangjai shared, “Every year, we come to change Pi Phueng’s outfit. She wore blue for the past two years, but this year we felt our sister wanted a new outfit. This year’s green symbolizes attracting wealth with bright colors, marking the 34th anniversary of her passing.”
The event at Wat Thap Kradan, Suphanburi, will be held from 11-19 June 2026, with respected singers and actors attending as every year, including Ja Nongpanee and Lamyai Haitongkham, along with various artists, both famous and less so. This year, they hope for no rain so vendors can have good sales, especially given the current poor economy, wishing Puangpuang Duangchan’s blessings for prosperous trade.
At the Kamphaeng Phet house, on 13 June 2026 at 11 a.m., there will be a merit-making ceremony only. The outfit change starts in Kamphaeng Phet this year and next month will proceed at Wat Thap Kradan. Everyone believes Pi Phueng remains with them always, and as the event approaches, many good things come their way. They hope everything goes smoothly without obstacles.
