The anniversary of the passing of Phumphuang Duangchan is approaching. As tradition, a memorial event is held at Wat Thap Kradan in Suphan Buri Province every year, where artists, both new and established, take turns performing. Many wonder whether the family profits from organizing this event. Ong Salakjit Duangchan, the biological younger sister of Mae Phueng, gave an interview as follows:
“Honestly, it's exhausting every year because I have to contact the artists and manage all the schedules. Each year, the family does not receive any financial benefit; we just help honor my sister. Every year, many people say the family must be rich because of this event, but that’s not true. Wat Thap Kradan organizes everything, and it all depends on the committee. We work very hard every year. Some years, I’ve even been hospitalized due to the chaos backstage. I confirm that the family does not earn a single baht from organizing the event.”
