Many people have been sending their strong support as "Jenny Daimaodtasodchuen" or "Jenny Ratchanok Suwanket" opened up about a health issue she has been monitoring for four years after testing positive for HPV, a virus that carries a risk of developing into cervical cancer in the future.
She shared that she first tested positive for the virus after giving birth to "Nong Eugin," her first daughter, four years ago. Two years ago, and most recently after the birth of her second daughter "Nong Jaa," follow-up tests still showed the virus was present and had not disappeared.
“I have been monitored for HPV for four years now. The virus is still there; it hasn’t gone away. This virus, if it doesn’t clear up in the future, can potentially lead to cervical cancer. But right now, it’s just HPV, not cancer.
There are no symptoms at all. It’s a virus that every woman should have a cervical cancer screening for annually. When I first tested positive after giving birth to Eugin four years ago, it was still there two years ago, and after giving birth to Jaa, it was still detected. The doctor advised me not to worry, to do whatever I can to maintain my immune system. Currently, I don't need treatment but must have check-ups every six months.
The key is to keep my immunity strong. So, I started exercising, going to bed early. I can’t take birth control pills or injections because of this virus. There is a vaccine, and I got it, but it’s best to get vaccinated before becoming sexually active. Now, the vaccine is available for children aged 7 and 14.
When I first found out, I was shocked because cancer runs in my family. But HPV isn’t inherited; it comes from sexual contact, using public restrooms, and other ways. The first year I found out, I cried with my mother and Lily. Everyone was very shocked.”
Many followers have sent Jenny a lot of encouragement and bravely shared their own personal experiences as warnings to raise awareness and encourage women to pay more attention to their health screenings.
