
This was truly a grand merit-making event, organized by the National Assembly for the Promotion of Morality and Culture (NAPMC), led by Dr. Kanthana Soncharoen, Chairperson, along with the committee, in collaboration with the “We Keep the Five Precepts” Club and a group of volunteer artist celebrities, headed by Dr. Ketsarin Ektawatchakul. They jointly held this socially beneficial activity to promote morality, culture, and the preservation of Buddhism in Thailand. The project, titled “Draping the Sacred Relic to Enhance Merit and Promote Buddhism 2026,” invited entertainment figures and the public to participate during the Visakha Bucha festival on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
At an auspicious moment at 11:39 a.m., a consecration ceremony was held honoring the “Sacred Relic of Nakhon City,” the “Muchalinda Naga” serpent king, all Naga families, and other sacred entities enshrined within Wat Phra Mahathat. The ceremony was conducted by Brahmins Chang-Sutthipong Pinijsuwan and Pariyat Pho Sri. The event also featured a performance by the respected dance troupe “Lai Dance Khun Thip,” who joined in the consecration ritual.
Following that, the ceremony continued inside the 100-Year Pavilion. Dr. Nui paid respects to nine monks: Phra Thepsiriwachirawej, D.D., Regional Ecclesiastical Head of Region 16, Dhammayut Sect, and Assistant Abbot of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan (Chief of the Sangha), Phra Kru Methee Thamphoch, Subdistrict Ecclesiastical Head and Assistant Abbot, Phra Kru Sunthon Chediyaphimon, Assistant Abbot, Phra Kru Jitkan Prasat, Subdistrict Head of Bang Chak and Assistant Abbot, Phra Kru Thammatthorn Suriya Aphako, Subdistrict Head of Pak Phun and Assistant Abbot, Phra Kru Sangharak Virat Pemosilo, Phra Maha Adisak Kavesko, Secretary to the Provincial Ecclesiastical Head of Nakhon Si Thammarat Dhammayut, Phra Palad Wirithphon Ayuwatthako, Meditation Teacher and Secretary of Ko Phet Subdistrict, and Phra Kru Winaithorn Phuwadon Chotipanyo, all from Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan.
The master of ceremonies invited Dr. Nui-Kanthana, Chairperson of NAPMC, to light incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem. The Buddhist ceremony included offering the monk’s robes, Sangha offerings, and other traditional items. Honored guests included Dr. Papasra Techapaiboon, drama producer from Papasra Production, Channel 7HD, along with entertainment team members such as Dee-Patthama Panthong, producer of the BL series “Forbidden Files” from Noonnum Studio, Dr. Warodom Sirisuk, producer of the period BL series “Loy Kaew” and host of the show “Life Must Win,” Maya Idol, Rang-Kritsakorn, lead actor in the drama “Krai Thong” on MVTV, Madame Peat-Kanoklada, Pam Suchanuch, Ida-Pichanchu Somlert, actress from the drama “Baan Nang Ram” on Channel 7HD, Ya Dr. Pingping-Raphat Eknitheset, actress from the vertical series “Paan Duangjai Signature” and singer of the hit song “Single, Feel Free to Flirt,” Ferry Natthanicha, actress from the series “Teacher Yod’s Tales, Episode: Nareephon” on Channel 7HD and Miss Model Universe Thailand 2025, and Madame Grace-Ploypitcha Yodchaikia.
Additionally, many distinguished experts and benevolent friends gathered in large numbers, including Ajarn Wanchai Suphan, a respected expert in amulets and host of the program “Talking About Amulets,” Joe Chaowarit Wangprakobkul (Ban Sang Mae Kamlai), Ajarn Pim Setthimahalap & Surayut Poonthong, owners of the pages “Good Things Thailand” and “Mutelu Station,” Ajarn Jib-Supawadee Takong from Ban Mahasap, specialist in charm arts, palm reading, and gold face ceremonies, Kru Big-Sutthipong Thongduang, Chang Nueng Muang Khon, Vice Somjai Srisasa and family, Mother Nureeang Kutklang, Khun Namo Kutklang, Khun Saendee, Lieutenant General Phichit Chotikaew, special expert of the Royal Thai Army, and his wife, Khun Wipawadee Chotikaew, Pro Koi and team from the V-Chef Face Sculpting Institute, Khun Worasak Urairoj, Chairman of Be White 168 Co., Ltd., Khun Usa Wisetnavin, Vice Chairperson, Dr. Watcharawit Somprasert (Teacher Rich Woraphon), advisor, Khun Oob Wiriya and executives of Be White 168 Co., Ltd., Khun Tawit Wongmek, Khun Sujitra Wongmek, Khun Phupha Wongmek, Siripatsorn Mod On, Jureerat Chaipromprasit, and Insee Kaewwichit.
Afterwards, the monks gave their blessings and chanted the water pouring ceremony. The master of ceremonies guided the attendees in meditation and mental dedication as an offering to the Lord Buddha.
The event was also honored by Khun Meekiat Onthong (Ek Ligor), Chairman of the Learning Center for Worship of the Great Relic of Nakhon Si Thammarat, who spoke about the significance of the “Sacred Relic of Nakhon City.” UNESCO is expected to soon announce its designation as a “World Heritage Site.” If approved, Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, will become Thailand’s sixth cultural World Heritage Site and the first in the southern region.
Following this, Dr. Papasra Techapaiboon presented certificates to event supporters, including Ajarn Wanchai Suphan and Khun Joe Chaowarit, who presented souvenirs to Khun Kob Papasra and Khun Dee Patthama. The ceremony concluded with traditional performances: the “Taree Kipus” folk dance by Madame Peat and Ida, and the graceful Manora dance by Khun Samphan Srivichai (younger sister of Ekachai Srivichai). Afterwards, the entertainment team and benevolent friends formed a procession to "carry the cloth up to the sacred relic" and took group photos in front of the Sacred Relic of Nakhon City, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.
