It remains a topic many are discussing after Jenny Daimod Tasodchoen or Jenny Ratchanok revealed that she tested positive for HPV type 16 and openly admitted she was extremely stressed to the point of panic, especially since many close to her have died from cancer.
Recently, she posted a lengthy message thanking everyone for their support and opened up about her anxiety leading to panic attacks, before responding strongly to comments with toxic attitudes that belittle and link her infection to changing partners. She announced plans to sue these individuals for damages to fund vaccines for the underprivileged.
"Thank you to many doctors who reached out with advice, as well as others who have spoken about the causes and treatment options for HPV infection. Previously, I admit I was very scared and anxious to the point of panic because many close to me died from cancer.
But now I have a broader understanding. (HPV infection is not cancer and if detected early, there is a higher chance of recovery.) I believe many friends and others overlook this issue. For me, frankly, this was a distant topic—I never studied it, never got vaccinated, and never cared much about my health.
In my youth, I focused solely on working and earning money, neglecting my health. Now I reflect and plan to work less and take better care of myself to live longer with my child and family. Regarding the infection, my doctor scheduled a follow-up test for 24 Jul; I will update everyone then.
Please take care of yourselves, everyone. If you or someone close is entering adolescence or becoming sexually active, which are main causes of infection, I recommend vaccination and regular screening."
She added in another post, "If someone close is becoming a teenager or starting to have a boyfriend, please take them for vaccination, everyone."
Shortly after, Jenny posted again, announcing she will protect herself by suing for damages anyone whose comments cause harm, belittle, mock, or mention infidelity and changing partners, which damage others' reputations.
"By daring to share about my HPV infection,
the positive outcome is becoming a case study for women and encouraging those who neglected this issue like me to become aware, care, and get annual cervical cancer screenings, as well as prompting parents to vaccinate their daughters at the right time.
The downside is women disparaging each other, posting mocking comments, talking about infidelity and partner changes, and implicating others without concern for their feelings.
Previously, when I shared a clip explaining HPV infection causes generally—possibly from sexual activity or public toilets—I am not ashamed if it came from sexual activity since I have had a boyfriend since age 17 or 18. I just wanted to speak broadly to avoid implicating or harming anyone due to my sharing.
I want to stress I did not intend to blame the toilet or toilet seats to hide the truth. I mentioned it because there was a period when I was touring all year, living on the road, needing to use gas station restrooms 3-4 times daily. I only spoke generally because it could happen. Some mocked me, saying they never had a husband or implying they are not women.
I hereby confirm I will sue for damages all harmful comments and use the money to help those who cannot afford vaccines. Wait and see. For those with financial difficulties, I will cover vaccination case by case so children can grow up without the worries I face now."
Jenny also added in her own comment, "Instead of posting encouragement or, if you hate, at least share prevention or care methods so others can protect themselves, some analyze how many partners I have had. Such toxic attitudes are shocking. If it happened to you, you would be speechless."
