Som Cheng Sam Cha Undeterred, Invests Last Savings to Launch Numerous New Businesses

Although disappointed by past business experiences, the fighter in “Pee Som Cheng Sam Cha” remains undeterred, moving forward with determination. She is ready to fight on, investing her last big sum to start many new ventures including coffee and supplements like glutathione, as well as family-secret food recipes. Recently, she opened up to Thairath Entertainment, saying: "How is it? Come experience the atmosphere. It's like sipping coffee because we import antiques directly from Denmark. We are the first-hand importers; we don't source from anyone else. So, when you look at antiques, if you want something, you can buy it at a price cheaper than elsewhere. Many sellers have taken from us to resell, but we guarantee we import directly from Denmark. My sister's husband lives in Denmark, so it comes straight to us without middlemen. We have a large selection; if you want something, just list it, and we'll send you pictures to see if it matches your style because we regularly deal with Denmark."

Is the cost high? Denmark is expensive, and antiques are costly, with pieces costing tens of thousands. But I have been doing this for four years, partnering with my younger sister. Then I faced problems with a noodle shop, so I said I’d open a coffee and steak shop. My sister suggested why not include our antiques there? I agreed, so from a small start, I fully committed and incorporated antiques into our shop.

In today’s economic climate, how is the response? After four years, I can say antiques appeal to a specific group. This group is less affected by the economy because antique collectors tend to be a higher-level clientele. The impact is minimal; it's not like they want something but must save up first. Our profits are low because we spread the products through other vendors. We sell both retail and wholesale, so our capital isn’t tied up. For small profits, I add just a little to cover travel costs and let it go. The items don’t stay long; once posted, they are quickly bought.

Currently, we serve coffee, steak, French fries, mushroom fish, fried fish cakes, fried sausage, and a small amount of rice. The fried sausage is currently very popular online. Whenever someone orders, we sell out—even I run out. Initially, we bought 20 kilograms of sausage filling. After frying, only 5 kilograms remain. When I started, I didn’t consider costs much. I served plates at 99 baht each.

Now I have to charge 129 baht per 100 grams because my cost per kilogram of prepared sausage filling is 1,000 baht. So, I must sell for more than 1,000 baht per kilo. Orders in kilograms are huge; customers take them to resell at their shops. I can’t keep up. Now I produce 200 kilograms a day. Sausage from all over Thailand—Bangkok, its vicinity, Nonthaburi, and Nakhon Pathom—is stocked at my shop. We carefully select premium sausage, using only real soft intestines.

We just learned there are different types of intestines: real soft intestine, fake soft intestine, secondary intestine, bitter intestine, tough intestine. Some ask why buy expensive intestines; I say try mine first, and you’ll understand what premium sausage means. The usual harsh smell and greasy texture with fat won’t be there. It’s a unique flavor, the only one in Thailand. No one else makes it. Customers love the taste, but it’s tough to make—taking 10 to 12 hours. Now machines have sped it up to around 8–9 hours. This is our family recipe, unique to us—nowhere else in Sukhothai has it. It was created by my brother-in-law who enjoys inventing recipes while drinking.

So we push sales of sausage. We started with 20 kilograms; my sister Pra fried it. It sold out quickly. Initially, we sold it at the noodle shop. After the crisis, I checked TikTok. Now, I have the Som Cheng Sam Cha channel and a backup channel. I go live selling sausage: 100 orders sell out in 30 seconds, 200 orders in one minute. I limit buyers to five bags each to let others get some. We don’t sell it at a high price—just 100 baht per pack with a red label.

I heard you say you’re no longer afraid of failing. This time, you’re going all in? Yes, I’m investing everything in supplements. I’m not afraid to fail because I’ve been through failure before. I’m selling coffee, glutathione, and my own products. Everyone is shocked in Thailand. I sell at prices that make people wonder if I own the factory. I don’t own a factory, and even factory owners are surprised. They wonder how I can price products this low. I want to sell boxes at 1 baht each. I ask for 20,000 boxes a day and pay 20,000 baht. Others can add their own markup. I’m satisfied with this and confident we’ll succeed, thrive, and get rich. I’m no longer afraid of failure. Poverty is scary. So, I don’t disdain small money, nor do I wait for anyone to give or lend me money. I’m pushing forward without fear of failure.
