In today's world, those who do not adapt find it hard to survive. Recently, two leading figures in the influencer and online seller community Mix Chalermsri and Nut Nisamanee opened up to Thairath Entertainment about the overall economy and the heartfelt challenges faced by online sellers, who have recently been hit hard, especially by harsh commission and service charges from foreign online platforms that drastically cut profits. Let's start with Mix Chalermsri.
How do you see the current state of the national economy?
"It's about mutual support among Thais. For example, when I sell products, people say the economy is bad and they hesitate to spend. But actually, you need to spend. You give me money, I produce goods, I earn money, then I spend again. It's a cycle of money circulating. Don't hoard money. When the economy is bad, you have to spend. Don't just save, or better yet, invest in a business to sell and pass it on. Buyers then start their own businesses and the economy improves."
How is it for online sellers like us who do live sales? Some might say live selling is easy?
"In reality, money is hard to earn, but it's better than nothing for me. Sometimes I manage to sell one or two items. I always set a goal for how much I need to sell today, so I try to meet that. It's better than earning nothing at all."
Are we heavily deducted by the platforms?
"Yes, there are many deductions here and there. At first, it was exciting when we sold products and got good support and earnings. But when calculating, we have to figure out how much money we actually keep after selling at a certain price. Sometimes deductions are not clear, so our profits decrease. Then we have to raise prices, and customers say our products are more expensive, even though we used to sell well before."
Are there good alternative channels we can switch to?
"Yes, when a channel is expensive, we move to another one. They compete with each other, some offer lower fees, so we keep moving."
Do you sympathize with online sellers?
"Yes, I want online sellers to keep fighting, and those struggling in this economy, keep going."
On the other hand, Nut Nisamanee also spoke on this topic, saying,
"When asked how tough the economy is now, I do many jobs. Besides being an influencer, I sell supplements and lip products. Is selling difficult? Yes, but if we understand the market and consumers, there’s a way forward even if it's tough."
Many face the problem of heavy deductions from platforms. How do you solve this?
"The solution is to first understand how much the platform deducts, because many people don't know this and set prices arbitrarily based on old habits. Now, in 2026, we must learn where we will sell and how much will be deducted so we can calculate the right price by adding the fees. Consumers now understand that platforms take a cut. I sell everywhere because choosing one market limits opportunities; products should be available everywhere first."
If a Thai platform emerges in the future, will you sell there too?
"I see Thai platforms as something we influencers can support by reviewing, because ultimately, it helps fellow Thais."
