The title of “thrifty leading actress” must be awarded to another person, for Esther Supreeleela. Recently, she opened up to Thairath Entertainment about managing and spending money daily, astonishing many. Esther admitted she is quite frugal and always thinks carefully before buying anything. On days when she is alone, she spends only 200-300 baht, saying,
“Actually, I’m quite thrifty. For things that aren’t necessary, I don’t splurge. I know how to manage money. I’m not the type to buy something just because I see it and like it. I always think through 1, 2, 3 whether it’s necessary and what I will do with it—not just on a whim.”
How much money do you carry and spend daily?
“Mostly, it’s spent on coffee and snacks, probably about 200-300 baht if I’m alone. If it’s just me, 300 baht for coffee sounds about right because I’m addicted to coffee. So I usually buy coffee and some snacks to satisfy my sweet tooth. When I’m on set, I eat with people nearby. Sometimes, my mother cooks meals at home, and I bring lunchboxes to eat at the filming location.”
Do you feel proud when you spend less money?
“Yes, I’m proud. Compared to before, when I didn’t know how to manage money, if I could go back in time, I’d think about why I didn’t start sooner. Growing up, I realized how hard it is to work and earn money. So, I try to think carefully before spending. I want to remind everyone to make it a habit—not to be frugal with everything, but to pay for what’s necessary and save the rest by dividing your money wisely.”
