The 'Buppesannivas' series is returning for another season, this time starring two lead actors. August Wachirawit Paisankulwong and Leng Thanapon Usinsap are scheduled to appear when the show airs on 14 July. Both shared their thoughts in an interview with reporters.
Is the premiere approaching?
August: As the air date nears, I feel excited because I haven't seen the footage yet. Watching the teaser, it looks good with many charming scenes.
Leng: I'm very excited too and look forward to watching with everyone on the 14th. Was filming unusual? This is my first period drama, so viewers will see something different from before. We've mostly acted in modern settings. The costumes and old-fashioned language are especially interesting.
August: For me, it's also different since it's a period drama. I had to learn horseback riding and get familiar with the language. Fortunately, the previous director returned to assist, which helped us focus on details.
Leng: The director was very clear with us, helping us share the same vision. It's a great honor to work with him again.
How about the language challenges?
August: It's difficult because we are from this era, but the old times used many ornamental words. We learned these from the director.
Leng: We're Thai, so we had some familiarity since childhood, but being on set deepened our understanding. In the story, we also prepared Thai food, which helped us learn the origins of various Thai desserts.
Do you think this will be a form of soft power?
Leng: If possible, I hope so. I want to represent Thai culture to the world.
August: Thanks to the director and crew for taking us to historical locations, allowing us to see the beauty of many aspects of Thailand.
Are you worried that viewers will have high expectations because you are from a younger generation?
August: I still look like an old-timer (laughs). I have a Thai look fitting the era. As an actor, I give my all in every scene to make it perfect. I constantly consult with the director, who reassures me, which puts me at ease.
Are you both feeling pressured by the many dramas?
August: Leng, are you feeling pressured?
Leng: Not really. I feel that the previous version with Pope and Bella was done very well. It's no surprise so many love the story. I don't want to let any pressure affect my work.
August: From my perspective, there are many comments. It would be hard not to feel anything. But if feeling down causes poor work, it's better not to dwell on it. We just focus on doing our best.
