Court Accepts Defamation Case Against Art Pasut, Demands 10 Million Baht Compensation

Continuing the saga involving the famous leading actor. Art Pasut Ban-yam. After a dispute with Dr. Aum Iravat. In mid-2025, both parties filed lawsuits against each other. Most recently, on 2 Jul 2026,

Art Pasut and his legal team went to Thonburi Criminal Court to respond to the defamation complaint he filed earlier against Dr. Aum. Ultimately, the court accepted the case. He revealed that he is seeking 10 million baht in damages and demands the other party issue a public apology through all media channels.

What happened? Why did they sue each other?

Art: It started with a social media post about a muscular leading actor who was ungrateful—a leading man who refused to lend money to a benefactor, the person who introduced him to the industry. This muscular leading actor was known on social media for buying cars, gold, and houses, and giving money to his parents, but was said to be ungrateful by not lending money to his benefactor. The post also said that everyone knew his character. This is the gist of the message.

We read it and felt the post referred to someone. Was it me?

Art: The muscle part is irrelevant since many actors have muscles, but I am the only muscular leading man known for giving money to staff, buying cars, houses, and gold. The benefactor who asked for a loan is a close friend who came as a witness, and there is evidence. If denied, I will pursue legal action. After several court sessions, the court accepted the case. It likely refers to me, so witness testimonies will follow.

Why did he post that? Did we have any prior issues?

Art: I won’t speculate on his thoughts, but many people have wondered why he likes to post snide remarks about others who aren’t involved, including issues like panic attacks that don’t concern him. It should have been a private matter between two people, but one person chose to publicly announce that his benefactor borrowed money from someone else.

Was this your first time meeting the opposing party?

Art: Yes, I didn’t have to come today, but I wanted to face him.

How was it when you met in the courtroom?

Art: I tried to look at him and recall our past. We know each other. He once did makeup for me a long time ago, which was good. Previously, we had a dispute that didn’t go public, involving criticism about school uniforms donated on a mountain. I warned him before, telling him that if there was an issue, we should talk, not spread rumors. But he just ignored it. So here we are at court, no hard feelings.

Did you exchange glances just now?

Art: I looked right at him. He asked if my mother wasn’t coming. I asked why she should. His mother is his own business. She will come as a witness at the hearing. I asked why he was asking.

Was that all the conversation in the room?

Art: Yes, just that. No eye contact from him.

Is the next court date set?

Art: Yes, 15th, 16th, and 17th of September here.

Is the lawsuit only criminal, or are there civil claims too?

Art: There are civil claims as well.

How much in damages?

Art: Just 10 million baht. The court usually awards less than I request, but I filed that amount anyway.

Are you seeking damages because it affected your reputation or income?

Art: I’m an actor. Honestly, I’m more famous than him. If you compare who gets photographed more, it’s me. Being called an ungrateful leading man has caused backlash. I posted to clarify that the person who introduced me to the industry isn’t who they say, but someone else that people often mention.

If he apologizes now, would you accept it?

Art: Let him apologize first, then I’ll decide.

Any chance of that?

Art: I don’t know. Honestly, I think it’s unlikely. Let’s just drop that.

Is that based on your observation today?

Art: Based on what people around me have said today.

Has he tried to negotiate or mediate?

Art: There’s quite a lot of pressure.

Is that a signal you’ve noticed?

Art: People close to him told me themselves.

Have you specified how many media channels the apology should cover?

Art: As I said, I don’t declare victory before the court’s decision because the court’s authority is greater than mine. Unlike others who claim to have won, I listen only to the court. If anyone falsely claims to be the court, I criticize them all.

Did you initiate the lawsuit first?

Art: Actually, since the talk show, I tried to settle. If he admitted the insults, everything would end. But he insisted on legal action. Lawyer James, a father of two, wasn’t happy and filed first. James sent a legal team to support me. For those who say my lawyers haven’t accepted the case, don’t spread false information to the media.

Will you attend every court session from now on?

Art: Just two more sessions left. I’m comfortable now because I have my own business and can manage my time. When I was an actor, I might have hesitated out of respect for producers, but now is the right time to fight and clear my name.

What time is the next hearing?

Art: At 9 a.m. like before.

How about the damage caused by these events?

Art: At that time, many on social media saw me as ungrateful. Some accused me of breaking contracts, being rejected by producers, and spreading false news. But the truth is the channel wanted me to stay but not in the next project. I chose to leave. People didn’t know this and just heard rumors that I was fired or unwanted. I’m grateful to Channel 3 for the opportunity to work elsewhere.

So they misunderstood and spoke wrongly?

Art: Everything is wrong—there were even rumors I did drugs, hit women, or stole. Now that I’m famous, wouldn’t there be news if that were true? They fabricate stories to mislead people. I don’t mind because they never name me, so no defamation. I respond according to my nature.

Are you worried since the court accepted the case?

Art: Not at all. I’m ready to prove everything. Some cases of defamation lead to jail time, but I have bail money. No need to stay under the courthouse.

We don’t need to worry about this?

Art: No worries, I have bail money.

Besides defamation, has the other side filed civil claims for damages?

Art: Yes, they demand 50 million baht, accusing me of defamation and causing their business to suffer, without knowing the full facts. They claim to be legal experts.

Are you fighting hard?

Art: I fight in legitimate courts, not superstitious ones. If I’m wrong, I’ll pay damages. I’m ready, and luckily I have the money.
