Many people who saw the post by Dao Natthaphatson or DJ Dao became concerned after she shared a cautionary tale for office workers who often suffer from office syndrome. DJ Dao warned about a close-to-home risk after waking up with a stiff neck, unable to turn left, unable to keep her neck straight, and severe pain that led her to see a doctor. The X-ray results revealed cervical spine degeneration and office syndrome.
She revealed, “The C5-C6 cervical vertebrae are degenerated. This was caused by prolonged poor posture while looking down at computers and phones.”
“Currently, I also have acute muscle inflammation. The bones are not yet pressing on any nerves. I have to do physical therapy and exercises to build muscle, which I am currently doing, and most importantly, change my habits. There's nothing too serious. Thank you for all the messages; I might not reply because I can’t bend my neck much.”
She warned everyone, “When using your phone or computer for work, try to sit up straight, don’t look down, and maintain proper posture because once the bones degenerate, it’s permanent. You can only slow it down.”
She added, “The doctor said many people have cervical spine degeneration combined with office syndrome but show few symptoms, so many don’t get checked. I had severe pain, so I got an X-ray and found out. The main cause of the intense pain when moving was acute muscle inflammation.”
“Overall, the cervical spine degeneration isn’t too alarming yet because I’m not numb or immobile, but behavior changes in work habits, phone holding, and computer use are necessary to balance and correct posture to slow degeneration. What’s already degenerated cannot be reversed.”
“Everyone, remind yourselves to move around and avoid sitting with your head bent over a screen for too long. It’s a silent danger. I’m sharing this so everyone can observe themselves and make behavior changes.”
