After Mrs. On Duangporn announced the end of her marriage with Tum Vichaya Jarujinda some time ago, as a mutual decision, recently Tum Vichaya together with his mother Duangdao Jarujinda and Terl Tawan appeared on the talk show "Kui Zaap Show" on One 31 channel, opening up for the first time about the reasons for separating from his ex-wife and ending a love life of over 10 years.
Usually, your family talks about things, but you said this breakup was very troubling and you didn’t want to talk to anyone?
Tum said, "Actually, my ex-wife and I are still colleagues. We still have interconnected businesses. My brother also works with me. There’s no problem with our personal relationship. The main issue is business. When people in love run a business together, the company ends up having two CEOs with different ideas, and roles are not clearly divided.
When decisions have to be made jointly, over time, these differing views build up into problems. So we decided to stop being partners. We gradually faded apart and separated. Now I run the business alone, with support from my mother and brother."
It’s said you didn’t discuss this decision with your family, especially your mother, and didn’t tell them?
Tum replied, "I didn’t tell anyone. I’m already quite old—turning 49 this August. To put it simply, it’s like when you crash a car. If you call your mother immediately, she’ll worry. But if you clear everything up first—call the insurance, get the car to the shop—and then tell her the car was in an accident but it’s all sorted, then it’s okay."
But your family talks about things?
Tum said, "Yes, but this was a sensitive matter. Also, I have a grandmother who is 97 years old. I didn’t want her to know because she still likes to give me things and I eat with her often. I felt uncomfortable and didn’t know how to tell her, so in the end I didn’t."
Did your mother find out during the live broadcast?
Tum: "Yes."
Duangdao: "We were live together, and then the news came out, and grandmother called."
Tum: "Yes, the news came out and grandmother called immediately. But I already knew because my ex-wife told me she was going to post about it. Since we had been separated for a long time, she wanted everyone to know. It was time to tell the truth."
Was your grandmother the first to know?
Tum: "Grandmother saw it from the news. Terl and mother tried to ask, but I didn’t say much. I just told them we weren’t living together much, that she went back to her father’s house and mother’s house and was busy with work and other things, so we were working separately. I started by telling them that we had separated the companies."
Did Duangdao feel hurt? This is a big issue in your child’s life, as a mother?
Duangdao: "Not at all. I respect his decision because my children are grown up. I don’t carry any burden inside me. My sons each have their own families. One thing I sensed about Tum is that he disappeared from our lives, but we thought he was busy with work, so we didn’t interfere or disturb him."
"As a mother and daughter, if saying something would upset my mother, I wouldn’t say it. I understand that my son wants to share only what he wishes to. If there are things he doesn’t want me to know, then I don’t try to pry. I just stay here ready to listen. If he has problems and needs advice, he will come to me. We raised them that way since they were young. I accept everything and don’t nag or ask."
Did Terl know about Tum’s situation?
Terl: "Honestly, my mother and I realized it, but since we’re both men, if it’s not serious, we think he can handle it. We watch over him and worry, but when Tum really has big problems, we will visit him at home."
How did you encourage each other during that time?
Duangdao: "We stayed by his side."
Tum: "I have to say I started everything from zero, even below zero. I came out with nothing and began anew. Fortunately, I had my mother, brother, and sister-in-law supporting me. Friends also encouraged me. But the ones who pulled me back from the brink were my mother, brother, and sister-in-law—people I hadn’t lived with for many years because I was focused on work, personal matters, friends, and so on.
When I made mistakes in business and family, I learned that the people who love you most are your family. No matter how badly you fall, your family is the one who helps you. This taught me that when problems start, consulting your family first may prevent things from getting worse and might lead to better solutions."
"I want to tell everyone, especially young people, not to keep problems to themselves. I was someone who kept everything inside, thinking and doing things alone without looking around. When I failed, I only told people after it was over. If I had shared the problems from the start, I would have had my father, mother, brother, and sister-in-law helping me. Many minds are better than one."
"I feel I made mistakes in the past, but luckily I have a family that supports me. Also, the business I do is online, and I’m fortunate to have a national influencer by my side. That helped me recover quickly over the past six months. Now I’m in the early stages of the business but progressing fast."
How did Duangdao feel listening to this?
Duangdao: "It’s okay. I always encourage my son because I want to be a good example. No matter what, we must have courage. We have hands, arms, legs, physical and mental strength. We can get up after falling. I always tell my son that I have fallen many times but always got back up. It’s okay; I’m here by your side, and we fight together. We livestream and sell things together, supporting each other."
Tum: "I’ve been a livestreamer since the early days, 10 years ago. It’s tiring and discouraging, but seeing my 74-year-old mother still livestreaming inspires me."
Terl: "I join the livestreams too but can’t keep up with the talking."
Tum: "I’m very tired. When I go live, what motivates me is seeing Duangdao Jarujinda still livestreaming at 10 p.m. I feel I have an idol and wonder why I should give up. So I push myself to keep fighting. I have responsibilities, business partners who trust me and invest with me. I gradually manage everything. I have friends who invested with me, but I failed because I was distracted and didn’t focus on the core business, which is online product sales. Now I focus solely on that."
Tum is single now. Does Duangdao worry? Can he have a girlfriend?
Duangdao: "It’s up to him."
Is he wary of love?
Tum: "Right now, I want to focus on work and paying off debts first."
Is he discouraged by love?
Tum: "At this age, I’m not discouraged. But now my focus is rebuilding my life. I want to take care of my mother, brother, and sister-in-law who have supported me. I want to be the pillar of the family again."
What kind of partner does he want next?
Tum: "I want someone who heals me, not someone I work with anymore. Working together can cause conflicting views. Now I just want someone who understands me, without working together."
Duangdao: "Love is a beautiful thing; it’s up to him."
Terl: "Mainly, I think Tum is focusing on work. When one door closes, another always opens. Follow us to keep updated."
