DJ Matum Recalls How He Met Owner of Rong Beer Lat Phrao and Explains Why He Sold His Shares Before Tragic Incident

Regarding the tragic case of the fire incident at the Rong Beer Lat Phrao venue, located near Lat Phrao Soi 1, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, previously, DJ Matum Tachin Ploypetch was named as one of the store's shareholders, causing many concerns. Before

DJ Matum posted a message stating that he is safe, thanked everyone for their concern, and said he had sold his shares years ago and was unaware of the details. Recently, DJ Matum appeared on the 'Hone Krasae' show on Channel 3, showing photos of the venue during construction. He then recounted how he first met the owner of Rong Beer Lat Phrao, saying

he met "Nai" (Mr.) the owner through a junior colleague. In the past, DJ Matum was into nightlife and partying, and Mr. Nai had a bar near Kaset in the Bang Khen area, which was his own establishment.

As they became close, DJ Matum opened his own bar near Ari and invited Mr. Nai to visit. Mr. Nai asked why he hadn’t told him about opening a bar and then invited him to partner because he planned to expand near Lat Phrao intersection. At that time, they discussed a live music venue with food, similar to the place near Bang Khen, not yet the Rong Beer concept.

DJ Matum was already interested in the nightlife business, so he agreed to partner but without formal contracts or investment discussions. He just allowed his name to be used for client relations, as opening a bar requires securing beverage sponsors. So he told Mr. Nai to proceed.

However, DJ Matum did not manage back-end operations but mainly handled PR. Mr. Nai informed him that the venue near Lat Phrao intersection was secured and asked DJ Matum to take photos for PR to announce that DJ Matum would be opening a bar there. This happened about two years ago. When he visited, everything was set up—doors, four entrances and exits—but no lighting, restrooms, kitchen, or storage yet. After that, he never returned and eventually sold his shares.

Regarding claims the owner has several other venues, DJ Matum said he was just a partner and that they communicated like siblings on Facebook. He felt Mr. Nai was expanding branches further.

When asked how many shareholders the venue initially had, DJ Matum said at the start it was just him and Mr. Nai, but he no longer knows since he sold his shares.

DJ Matum added,

many people asked if he agreed with having such a structure at the venue. He said he had only been there once, never returned, and decided to withdraw because he got a casting job abroad and no longer wanted to be in the nightlife business. He sold everything and kept nothing. Mr. Nai then brought in other partners to take over DJ Matum’s shares, so he does not know how many shareholders exist now. Click to read
