Wherever they go, they are always seen together. Businessman Pete Kantaporn Pete Kantaporn and Khaembum Preeyada recently took time off from live selling to attend the launch of M&D’s new product “M&D Konjac Cup Noodles” at G Floor, Union Mall, Bangkok. After the event, Pete and Khaembum gave an interview updating their plans to have children.
"With your busy schedule, do you have time to have kids?"
Khaembum said, "We are waiting for the auspicious date. It’s difficult, so we want to do it when we feel comfortable. We have already chosen and are just waiting for the date."
Pete added, "We follow her lead, doing what makes her happy. Everything is ready now; we just wait for the date she believes in and has checked."
Khaembum explained, "It’s the birth date, the delivery date. We’ve looked at many dates. She personally picked the date she wanted."
Pete said, "We are looking ahead to when the child will be born—this year, this month. We have to count and plan what to do and when. The timeline is for delivery next year. We’ll wait and see. We originally aimed for no later than mid-year, but since it didn’t work out, we changed plans. We still believe this is a good date; if not, we have others."
Khaembum said, "Because we believe in astrology, we gave her options—dates 1 to 5—and she chose one where the child would have strong morality."
Pete added, "She gave me choices of dates and the personality traits a child born on each date would have. One stood out: if born on that day, the child would have high virtue. I want my child to love justice and be a good person in society."
Khaembum said, "We don’t choose for the child to be smart or rich, but to have morality first."
Pete said, "If someone is talented but not good, I don’t think that’s ideal."
Khaembum joked, "So the child will ordain, love spirituality, and we’ll leave the business to others."
"Does Pete have to feed Khaembum every day?"
Khaembum replied, "Feeding means hugging. It’s not about making a baby; those are separate. We use science, so no need for that."
Pete said, "I want her to be lively and even complain sometimes. It’s funny when she gets upset. Others might be shocked, but to me, it’s a cute side of her, though she usually complains about trivial things."
Khaembum said, "It’s fitting she has a villain as a boyfriend—he probably thinks my complaints sound like a Chihuahua barking."
"No children yet but already close with Bee Matika’s family?"
Khaembum said, "Little Vincent loves animals very much and is very gentle. I don’t know what Pete reserved, but I reserved love for animals. The other day, he came to our house and only wanted to hold stray kittens. We tried to get the cats to go to the million-baht house quickly, but they didn’t go. Vincent said he had to ask his dad first. Pete said that a long time ago, but Bee has been holding many back. Many don’t know which one Vincent will get; he is very popular now."
Pete said, "We’ve talked about it a long time ago. If fate allows, maybe he’ll get one."
"How many children do you plan to have?"
Khaembum said, "Maybe twins if possible, but we’re not sure yet. Probably two kids first, as a standard, but I don’t know if I can handle it."
Pete said, "Two children is definite."
Khaembum said, "Honestly, I’m almost 39, so we’ll see how it goes. Maybe I can’t."
"Just moved into the new house?"
Pete said, "We just had the house blessing. It’s nearly finished, just need to move in and furnish it. We plan to move in this year. It’s a bit delayed from the original plan to finish last year, but it should be done this year. When exactly depends because we have a lot of stuff. The budget has ballooned from 30 million baht to almost 50 million baht. We won’t go beyond that; we want to finish it there. The house is a home office and live studio primarily, with upstairs as living quarters."
Khaembum added, "He also plans to buy another house for storage. He said he wants another house just for keeping things."
