It has become an inspiring story that has won overwhelming support from Thai fans for "Nene Royal" the remarkable 16-year-old girl who pursued her dream to showcase her talent on the global stage of "America’s Got Talent" successfully.
Recently on the Channel 3 show "Hon Krasae," Nene appeared alongside her father, Narong Amloy, who opened up about the beginnings of their grand dream journey, sharing the struggles, perseverance, and life-changing miracles along the way.
He also revealed how to vote on America’s Got Talent, saying that voting is not available from Thailand; only people in America can vote.
Then, host Noom Kanchai read a viewer’s message explaining the voting method: You can vote through the NBC app or the America’s Got Talent website. You don’t need a green card or citizenship; Thai people can vote via the app. Each person can cast up to 10 votes per contestant per platform, so voting both on the website and app allows a maximum of 20 votes per contestant per voting round, but only during the live show.
Nene shared that following her dream to be on "America’s Got Talent" has been a shared dream between her and her father. She loves watching the show, the performers, the audience, and the judges. Some winners become global stars, which made her want to jump into the show and be part of it.
Her father, Narong, said he didn’t initially understand why she liked the show so much. Before bed, she would watch "America’s Got Talent" or "Britain’s Got Talent." He felt she was doing fine but didn’t expect she would actually go. When her band started competing, they often won or placed as runner-ups, and she won best singer awards at many events. Their latest was the King Power THE POWER BAND contest, which they considered the final stage. He told her, "Why not jump to an international stage?" and asked if she wanted to go.
Nene said she thought it would be very difficult and unlikely to succeed because it’s a world-class show. She saw some performers who were excellent but the judges were not fully satisfied, which made it seem very tough.
Her father recounted that an American man once came to watch Nene and offered to help as a coordinator. He asked about her dreams and plans, and after returning, he asked if she could make a clip to send to him. They made several clips but got no response initially and stopped trying. Then the man contacted them again, asking for another clip and helped them improve it. They sent it again but heard nothing. Later, the man flew back and invited them to a secret meeting in a car where he shared confidential news.
Nene said the man told her that America’s Got Talent had invited her to audition in the U.S. She screamed with joy, and her father cried. At first, he didn’t understand until she translated the news that she had been accepted. Then he screamed with her.
Narong said the airfare was fully supported. When people say he sold everything, he clarified that he sold his spirit more than possessions. He used to be a sepak takraw athlete but gave everything up to support his daughter's music career. Industry friends knew he had sacrificed everything to help her reach this point.
Nene said that just seeing the America’s Got Talent sign for the first time made her almost faint. When she tried to take photos, staff said no. The first audition she thought would be in a small room for research, but after a sound check, they took her to a big hall in front of a large audience and judges. It was a real competition, just like the clips everyone has seen.
When asked about her future plans, Nene said she will keep doing the same—practicing as usual—but her goal is to become a global artist. She has already made about 4 or 5 songs herself.
