Mor Kong, as both a doctor and citizen, commented on the mass casualty nightclub fire incident, advising that the key to survival is daily mindfulness to be ready for unexpected events and to follow instructions from leaders during crises to avoid further tragedy. He also warned that facial and neck burns are life-threatening due to dehydration and require medical attention.
He also responded to some social views that victims shouldn't be compensated because they visited disreputable venues, stating this is incorrect. People have the right to leisure, but venues must be safe. When accidents happen due to illegal and substandard conditions, the government and related parties must provide compensation.
"I believe the operators are at fault for evading the law, but those responsible for oversight allowed this evasion. So if you're asking whether inspections or crackdowns are needed, the local authorities should face consequences," he said.
