Krit Explains Why He Believes Thai Mindset Isnt Developing, Clarifies He’s Not Insulting but Speaking Truth

Regarding the various online controversies involving "Krit Sripoomseth" the owner of the popular PARAMETER gelato shop currently trending, Krit spoke about the Thai mindset needing to stop being stagnant; otherwise, the country will be filled with poor-quality goods, and consumers will keep buying bad products while remaining closed off. This sparked heavy social media backlash. Krit responded by saying

Is the Thai mindset really stuck in a "closed-off" mindset?

"My intention is this: Imagine there are two countries. One has people who are determined to do good things, produce quality goods; that country will prosper. Meanwhile, in another country, people can’t do this or that; it discourages those who want to create quality products from trying. This is truly my view. Imagine you live in a house where everyone listens without drama—your parents and siblings—and you are forced to always do the bare minimum, the lowest standard. Let’s separate that from wealth or poverty. What I’m saying is, if we live together with a mindset to improve everything, wouldn’t every product be better? If it were you, which house would you choose? Do you get it? This is what I want to convey."

But some see it as insulting Thai people?

"If people watch my clip and analyze it shot by shot, I never insult anyone. I speak the truth. There is no word that is insulting, I can say for sure. (About the phrase 'closed-off mindset')—we can change it to 'basin' (laughs). People think, 'Oh no, I’m stuck in a basin.' But my feeling is, I’ve seen good things abroad. In Japan, for example, they try hard to make everything good. Everything is clean, the cities are great. I want to share this with Thai people. When I was in Italy making gelato and saw the quality, I wanted to tell Thai people about it. That is my true intention."
