Noo Lek revealed she likely contracted the virus from an Aedes mosquito bite during a merit-making trip in Songkhla province. Upon returning to Bangkok, she developed a high fever reaching 40 degrees Celsius with severe chills and muscle cramps. Despite taking paracetamol, her fever did not subside, prompting her to seek medical care where she was diagnosed with dengue fever.
Her condition deteriorated severely on the 7th or 8th day when she vomited blood. Doctors immediately admitted her to the ICU due to internal bleeding, which carried a 50-50 risk of death. At that moment, she was so frightened that she typed a message arranging her inheritance for her husband and 7-year-old son, fearing she might not return to her family.
Noo Lek expressed concern and cautioned fans, especially adults and the elderly, to closely monitor their children and themselves. She emphasized that anyone with a high fever must not take any painkillers other than paracetamol, as others could trigger internal bleeding leading to death. She also stressed the importance of inspecting and emptying stagnant water containers around the home, such as flowerpot trays and basins, to break the Aedes mosquito breeding cycle. She noted that working-age adults and seniors are now at similarly high risk as young children.
