A TikTok user posted a video showing Italian students loudly making noise on a train amidst other passengers. Despite the video owner asking them to lower their volume, the students responded with derogatory remarks and insulting gestures, sparking a controversy that greatly upset Thai netizens.
Recently, Stefan Thasith Sinkanawiwat, a former Thai-Italian leading actor, released a harsh video condemning the group of Italian students, saying, "So today, some damn Italian idiots caused trouble on the train, right? I've been messaged a lot about them today. They’re damn disgusting. Honestly, I’m telling you, their family must be searching for the biggest asshole right now. Damn, I’m really pissed off. This behavior is unacceptable."
"I’m telling you, anyone coming to visit Thailand — Thailand is like heaven. I’m Thai mixed. Thai people are kind like heaven. Living in Thailand is like living in paradise on earth. Thai people are among the few in the world who, when problems happen, just smile and brush it off, curse silently, then let it go. That’s the nature of Thai people."
"But don’t make Thai people angry, because when they get mad, that heaven-on-earth Thailand can quickly turn into hell on earth. Have you seen foreigners get beaten? Tom Yum Goong (spicy shrimp soup) is delicious, but Tom Yum Tean (kicking Tom Yum) is just as intense."
He warned in English, "Thai people are very nice. They'll take care of you, they'll help you, they'll treat you the best in the world. But if you fuck with them, that nicest will turn into mayhem. They'll beat the shit out of you. So remember that. Treat Thai people with respect."
"Whether you’re Thai, Italian, or anything else, you should have manners toward others. It’s the same in restaurants—you shouldn’t talk loudly or disrespectfully, and when someone politely warns you,"
"Think about it: when we visit Japan, the U.S., or Europe, we show respect to locals, right? Because they see that Thai people are kind, and so they think, ‘Oh, they’re nice,’ and then we go and step on that kindness."
"Thai people are kind because it’s their nature, but don’t act like assholes, because once you do, Thai people can be very harsh."
