Known as another Casanova in the entertainment industry, Krit Sriphumset has recently opened up on the “Club Friday Show” on One31 channel about his past love life. Krit Sriphumset He admitted to being very obsessed with love before, even going with his girlfriend to swear at Wat Phra Kaew not to be unfaithful. However, they broke up after eight months. He remains single today but dreams of having 2-3 girlfriends to help him bake together.
Earlier, Krit Sriphumset was called a Casanova with an Asian face. Does he reject or proudly accept this label?
"Not at all. There was a time when I was at my peak, really obsessed with this stuff (laughs). I think it was during the time with Pee Chod."
You said you like the feeling of being in love right now?
"Yes, I like it. When you're in love, it feels like dopamine and adrenaline are rushing. Pee Aun, you know what I mean? It’s like when you meet someone and feel happy, wanting to stay in that moment forever."
But do you want to stay in that moment with many people?
"When I was younger, yes, I wanted to stay in the in-love moment all the time."
Did you break up with the previous person yet?
"Uh... the previous one... uh, well... (makes a nervous face, trembling lips). Sometimes, we hadn’t officially broken up. We were very young then. When I met someone new and felt in love again, it just went on. Probably just being a flirt."
At that time, did you realize that chasing new dopamine highs made the feelings short-lived and unstable? When you broke someone's heart, did you feel guilty?
"I didn't know at all back then (laughs). We were young, just going along. When I started feeling serious, I would step back. If I sensed 'Hey, this person is serious,' I’d pull away because I felt it wasn’t right."
Did it ever get to the point that you and someone else swore an oath?
"Yes... I once really liked a girl a lot. Then she said, 'You’re a flirt, right?' I said, 'I like you for real.' She said, 'No, I don’t believe you, you’re a flirt.' Then she said, 'Let’s swear an oath!' So we went to Wat Phra Kaew, held hands, sat down and swore: 'I, Krit Sriphumset, swear...'."
Were you scared at the oath?
"Not scared, but after that day I thought, 'What did I do?' (laughs). I was sincere then. I swore I wouldn’t be involved with anyone else, seriously. I knelt at Wat Phra Kaew’s front, she sat beside me, and I promised not to cheat and to be faithful to just her while dating."
What if you cheated?
"That would be disastrous—like dying suddenly. Seriously... The next day I thought, 'What did I do?' (laughs). I remember it lasted 8 months without involvement with anyone else, no cheating."
Was it because you didn’t want to or because of the oath?
"Because of the oath (laughs). Because I felt, Wat Phra Kaew is sacred; I can’t break this or I’d be doomed. But eventually, after 8 months, we broke up, went to cancel the oath together. After that, we weren’t dating anymore and could do whatever we wanted."
You said you liked the dopamine rush of being in love. Did you ever officially break up?
"Actually, I’ve only had a few serious girlfriends. After that, I decided not to have another girlfriend. I had two girlfriends only. If I dated or was with anyone else, they knew I wasn’t ready to be exclusive. I told them plainly. I kept working."
Did you ever experience heartbreak?
"Yes, when I was young. But as I grew older, no more heartbreak. I liked someone a lot, but when it reached a point and I was busy with work and business, I decided not to continue. So yes, I liked a lot."
Did you ever come close to marriage?
"No, Pee Chod, never. I can’t picture myself married. Have I thought about it? No, never. Even now, some say ‘You’ll want that after 40, want someone to be with you.’ I’m 47 now, and I just want to keep making gelato."
What type of person do you find irresistible?
"I like capable people who exercise. I exercise myself, so meeting someone who works out is fun, has energy. I like people skilled in something—anything. You could be good at petanque (laughs), singing, acting—anything."
Why the guilty look? Let me ask: How does your ideal partner today compare with the past?
"They’re different. When I was younger, I liked beautiful, good-looking women with great figures. Now I still like that but also want someone capable in at least one thing."
Are you skilled in physiognomy (face reading)?
"Yes, not sure if it’s accurate, but I use it. My father practiced it. Does it influence choosing a partner? Somewhat, but not much. For example, women with very big, restless eyes tend to be more flirtatious. Small eyes don’t count. Women with a sharp forehead can be tough. High cheekbones suggest seriousness and control; too high can be dangerous. Thin lips are not good—they demand more love than they give. Very full lips indicate love of fun."
Do you use the same criteria for men?
"I never look at men, only women."
Aside from your business, can you say you’re very single now?
"Yes, 100% single, no girlfriend. Before, I wasn’t officially with anyone but had flings. For 5-6 years now, no one. I’m not lonely though; life and work keep me busy and happy."
Don’t you crave being in love?
"Oh, but right now, the dopamine from gelato is intense. Going to the shop feels like a concert every day. But yes, I do miss having someone to share that feeling with."
What’s your current ideal partner like?
"Someone who bakes. They must bake. Exercise too. I want her to bake with me. (Can she have another career?) Sure, but baking together would be so fun. Imagine creating parameters, making gelato and pastries together. I want a chef as a wife. (Do you want a chef wife or a wife who is a chef?) Either is fine (laughs)."
You said you want more than one partner—2 or 3? Really?
"Yes, I think so, really. I’m 47, not lying."
Meaning one wife per branch of your business?
"Yes, like managing China, one wife there; America, one wife there; another at a third branch. Not deep relationships, but girlfriends or wives. Several people managing different places, making it big, then I die—no kids. (Very clear!) Yes, really."
Having multiple wives, aren’t you afraid they’d fight?
"No, Islam has many wives, no fighting, right? No problem. But we have to be clear from the start. (If you had 10 branches, would you need 10 wives?) That’d be good (laughs), but 10 is too many. Two or three is enough to surprise people (laughs). I’m serious, not a joke. I told the crew, they asked me, and I said really."
Did you ever think your life would lead you to selling gelato?
Krit: "Never, Pee Chod, never. I could swear at Wat Phra Kaew again (laughs). I didn’t know how to bake at all. But during COVID, when everything stopped, I was at a point thinking: I’ve been in entertainment for 30 years, peaked, I’m great, right? Is that true? I talked to myself, it was so quiet, nothing to do, just sitting silently, thinking 'Am I really great, Krit? If so, start something new and succeed.' I wasn’t great. I stayed in the entertainment safe zone, so I decided to try something new."
Is it possible we’ll see Krit Sriphumset balancing gelato business with a return to entertainment and some love life?
"Possible. Entertainment would be very hard now; inside me, I’m a chef. I do want love, someone I love deeply and who loves me back. I’m serious. I want to bake together with her, 2 or 3 people."
If you remove that last part...?
"I’m serious. If I meet someone who wants children, and I love her very much, maybe. But I like the feeling of mutual deep love. I want to find that."
Have you met that person before?
"Yes, I’ve met someone who loved me deeply, but I didn’t love her that much. It was complicated, like a chaotic storm in my mind. When I met someone I loved and who loved me back and the dopamine rush came, I’d shift back to my work obsession. Then I thought, 'Okay, I know now. Let’s bake together, problem solved!' (laughs) Seriously, not a joke. Make gelato, love each other, work in the kitchen every day."
Could it be that being older and clearer in your mind helps you focus better on one person, like you do with work?
"I think so, Pee. I want to get to that point but haven’t found it yet."
If you find that person, do you think you’re past your Casanova phase and won’t need to swear at Wat Phra Kaew again?
"Probably not needed anymore. After being single for five years and proving I don’t get involved with others, I’m stable now."
At your age and experience, is the simple truth that you’re just getting older?
"Getting older, yes (laughs). But there are other things holding me, focusing me. When I meet someone, I might think, 'No, better not,' and just go buy peanuts instead (laughs)."
