The passing of “Halun Solo” a famous travel YouTuber who died in Georgia while filming and traveling there, deeply saddened and shocked people throughout Thailand.
Previously, his brother, Moss, announced a plea for help to find Halun after losing contact for over two weeks. Many people shared the message, and groups offered assistance, coordinating internationally, seeking help from contacts in Georgia, and working with local police. Eventually, it was confirmed that Halun had died in the hotel where he was staying.
Recently, Moss and Kob, Halun’s two brothers, appeared on the program "Hon Krasae." On the side of host Noom Kanchai, he asked if the embassy had informed them about coordinating to bring Halun’s body back to Thailand and what the procedures would be.
The brother revealed that the embassy had contacted them, saying the family would have to bear the expenses of repatriating the body, and he worried they might not be able to bring Halun’s body back.
Noom Kanchai explained that the family was concerned Halun might be buried there and that they wouldn’t receive his body back due to high costs and the family’s limited income.
Noom and Wan Chai spoke with the family and Halun earlier that morning, saying “Don’t worry. I will take care of it. Wan Chai will handle this. Don’t worry. The family will help coordinate with the embassy as relatives. If there are any expenses, we will cover them.”
When Noom asked Moss if he had any other concerns, Moss said he worried about the process of bringing the body back intact. Noom explained that first the family must discuss with the embassy the procedures for repatriation. As far as he knew, an autopsy would be conducted in Georgia to determine the cause of death. Then all necessary arrangements would be made, and the embassy would coordinate with the family to assist in bringing the body back. They might ask about the preferred method of repatriation, and the family would likely be responsible for the costs.
Noom added that if the family lacked funds, they could borrow money from the embassy and repay later. However, there’s no need to borrow or fundraise; he, the program, and Wan Chai will take care of it. He believes there are many sponsors and allies willing to help. Some sponsors have already called offering support, and many others want to assist. So the family can rest assured—they promise to bring Halun back.
