Min Pechaya Requests Trial in Absentia, Aims to Resume Normal Work, Affirms Innocence as Only a The Icon Presenter

Updates on the The Icon case After the Criminal Court scheduled the prosecution's witness examination, the court consolidated the cases of both Min Pechaya and Sam Yuranan to be considered together with the main case. Today, neither appeared in court personally but assigned their legal teams to act on their behalf.

Most recently, Thanakorn Waekwaree, Min Pechaya's personal lawyer, came to court to handle the additional witness hearings in the The Icon case. Today, Min Pechaya did not come to court herself, as she requested a trial in absentia to facilitate a normal life.

Thanakorn revealed that today was the prosecution's witness hearing for Min and Sam's case, which was filed later. The main case had already been considered earlier this year. Since our case was just recently filed, the court ordered consolidation due to the shared evidence. The defendants have cooperated with the court for the main case trial and some defendant witnesses have already been heard.

As for my client, Min Pechaya, she requested a trial in absentia to return to a normal life. Regarding the case, it is the lawyers' responsibility to argue on her behalf.

When asked if consolidating the cases today was stressful, the lawyer said that based on the case details, they have consistently stated that Min was only a presenter associated with The Icon for about a year and a half. The earlier investigation dating back to 2019 involves only her role as presenter. We have maintained that she acted solely as a presenter, and the prosecutor previously decided not to press charges. We continue to contest this. The allegations are collectively charged, but in criminal law, responsibility is assigned according to each person's involvement.

Asked if the consolidation caused stress, the lawyer said it did not matter whether cases are consolidated or not. The truth is about how much work was done, the extent of responsibility, and whether the defendant committed any wrongdoing as charged by the prosecution—nothing beyond that.

An innocent person remains so. The facts cannot change the reality of what happened. Now, the goal is to present the facts to the judge or court to show how my client acted in the past. That truth cannot be altered, only presented for judicial consideration.

Min Pechaya did not attend court because we requested a trial in absentia, which is the defendant's right. Min is no longer stressed. She wants to return to a normal life and resume work as usual. She has understood the case details and works closely with her lawyers. This period involves court proceedings with scheduled witness examinations—about 100 hearings—expected to conclude late 2027. My client is not stressed and is simply waiting for the process to end.

Min sends her regards to the media and looks forward to returning to work normally. She is living an ordinary life without issues. The prosecution's witness examination will continue until 21 August, with another session likely in January 2027, totaling about 90 more hearings, concluding late 2027. Everything must wait until the trial is complete.
