Rocky Surabotdin Confused Over Defamation Lawsuit Against Him and His Mother, Says Theres Nothing to Discuss and Hell Move On

It has become a hot topic again when Rocky Surabotdin Sombatjaroen posted a large stack of court summonses, which concern a case filed by Diana Sombatjaroen, the registered wife living with Surachai Sombatjaroen, a famous luk thung singer, who has sued Rocky and his mother, Jeab Atthapornpim Komonsen, Surachai's ex-wife, on charges of defamation.

Recently, Rocky, along with his mother Jeab and Ding Kamolchanok Sombatjaroen, his younger sister, spoke out about this matter after attending the 8th Nakharat Awards at the Aksara King Power Theatre.

May I ask about the news regarding the court summons?

Rocky: "It's a court summons from someone you know who it is (laughs). But honestly, I just recently received the summons and just saw it myself. It came around 8.8, a busy working period, so I hadn't looked at it yet and I'm not sure what comes next.

I only know from the details that I am defendant number one, my mother is defendant number two, and it concerns defamation. Like I said, I haven't seen many details yet, but I'm a bit confused, thinking, 'Wait... shouldn't it be us?' (laughs) That's how I feel. It's confusing why it turned out this way, especially since I haven't seen the full details of the summons yet."

Was your first reaction shock?

Rocky: "More like confusion. Honestly, I was very confused at first because, frankly, since this issue arose, we've only spoken out once and never said much else. It was settled already. So it's just surprising and confusing that it's not over yet. From our perspective, we don't know the full details."

The summons states that Diana is the plaintiff. Does it specify what charges she filed?

Rocky: "I am defendant one, my mother is defendant two. Mainly, it seems to be defamation, but as I said, I haven't really looked at the summons details yet."

Do you know which statements or matters are considered defamatory, and what defamation you allegedly committed?

Rocky: "Honestly, I don't know yet. Because 8.8 was a working period (laughs). The summons stack is quite large, so I haven't read it thoroughly."

Do you expect it might be related to references about her?

Rocky: "Probably something like that. Honestly, since this issue began, I’ve tried not to mention any third party because it’s a family matter. I’ve mostly spoken from the family’s perspective. So I’m also puzzled why, even though we avoided mentioning anyone else, there’s still this issue. It makes me wonder if maybe they actually like us (laughs) that they keep coming after us."

Has Surachai contacted you at all?

Rocky: "No contact at all since then until now. Everyone sees what they see, and I see it the same way, that’s all. But as I said, sometimes I don’t even agree because I consider it settled. Some people asked me after we spoke once, but I never responded because I didn’t even know what was said in return. I had moved on and considered it finished."

Does your mother want this to be over, or how does she feel that it’s still ongoing?

Mother Jeab: "I feel that since I spoke that day, it was over. But if it’s not, then I don’t know."

Can you guess if Surachai knows about this and whether he agrees or disagrees?

Rocky: "I can’t say, really can’t guess. The other side has been like a father to me, so I don’t know what’s going on. Also, I don’t know the details or timing in the summons. I only know it’s complicated. Since it came around 8.8, we’re just focusing on work first. We’ll see later (laughs)."

Is there a deadline by which you need to respond?

"Yes, I asked already. I only know everything will be around next month or so. So that’s okay, we still have time to work. You might notice my voice is a bit hoarse — I’m live streaming every day (laughs)."

Do you have any backup plans regarding this?

"I don’t even have plan one yet (laughs)."

Are you worried about what you might face?

Rocky: "If you ask me, I’m not worried because I haven’t seen what actually happened yet, to be honest."

If they file a civil suit for damages, would that mean two cases?

Rocky: "I don’t know at all. I’m not aware of what cases are included, or if there has been acceptance of the suit. I’m unclear on the details, and as I said, I’m still confused thinking, ‘Shouldn’t it be us?’ (laughs). Why did it turn out this way?"

If given a chance, would you negotiate?

Rocky: "I don’t know. I don’t even know if there will be negotiations, and I have nothing to discuss because I consider it finished. We all have moved on and are living normal lives."

Do you want to say anything to the opposing party?

Ding: "Honestly, there’s nothing to say. As P'Ki said, it was around 8.8 — me and my brother will just deal with it later."

Mother Jeab: "Since we divorced two years ago, we have been working and helping the kids with their work. There’s nothing else."

Rocky: "I see this as not a big deal compared to taking care of the people around us today."
