She arrived as scheduled by the court in the capacity of defendant for Poo Mantana who was sued by the famous host Nam Kanchai on charges of defamation and violating the Computer Crime Act. After the court completed the preliminary hearing, she opened up about her plan to fight the case, saying she is now using Dhamma to heal her mind and improve her life. She explained,
"Today the court scheduled a preliminary hearing in the defamation case Nam filed against Poo, accusing her of sending people to cause trouble at the Phra Nakhon Tai District Court?"
Lawyer: "There are 14 counts in total, but most seem repetitive. Phrases like 'female face,' 'media godfather,' 'avatar page' appear repeatedly. The court already knows Poo did not mention anyone’s name or single out the plaintiff. Previously, facts were presented to highlight irregularities in the posts and Poo’s profile, including manipulated messages distorting the truth. I asked Poo and she said she never posted those messages and does not know how they appeared. Many messages repeat across several cases, some dating from 2025, while this case was filed in 2026 but with the same repeated messages."
Poo: "There are many messages involved — 6 cases, 78 counts, over 500 pages — repeating the same texts in every case."
Lawyer Sampee: "There is a lot of editing. Before the preliminary hearing, our team gathered all evidence and submitted it to the court to prove the case lacks merit and to counter the plaintiff’s claims, which the court accepted into the record. Regarding the edits, the plaintiff’s filings show blue check marks, but Poo’s profile normally has only 15,000 followers without any blue check. Our investigation found multiple people using the name Poo Mantana, but those accounts have since been deleted. We captured screenshots to show the court."
Regarding other messages in the plaintiff’s filings, such as claims that the public can comment freely, in fact, Poo restricts comments so only friends can post. The plaintiff mentioned comments referencing 'Nam Kanchai on the trend,' but our investigation found commenters were fake accounts or avatars, resembling manipulated images. This is our defense approach, but what the plaintiff does is another matter."
Is the blue check mark missing on all platforms?
Poo: "It’s missing everywhere because the follower count is low."
Lawyer Sampee: "The plaintiff’s documents contain suspicious elements. We don’t claim the posts are fake, just that there are doubts. We use these doubts to counter the plaintiff’s claims. Whether we are right or wrong depends on the court’s discretion to accept our defense."
Does Nam’s side know there are fake posts too?
Lawyer Sampee: "They don’t know. Madam once asked P’Nam if he read all the documents; he said he read them as he said. There are posts from us and some suspicious ones, which we pointed out to the court, and the court recorded these doubts. The plaintiff admitted to the court that posts were pasted together; the court noted this during proceedings. To file a case, there must be a URL link to verify the post’s authenticity because anyone can alter or defame others by posting under any name or profile. The plaintiff did not present such evidence."
Therefore, anyone could post anything. We checked with Poo; she posts sometimes, sometimes not. Nowadays, AI can do anything. To confirm facts, there must be a URL proving the post belongs to Poo. The plaintiff’s profile images in the case are partly Poo’s and partly not, which clearly shows anyone can impersonate Poo to defame her. We’re not accusing the plaintiff of defamation; we simply raise this point as our defense strategy."
Asked if the post claiming Nam sent people to cause trouble at court was genuinely hers?
Madam Sampee: "This is in count 5. Poo did post, but she never said Nam sent his subordinates. The term used was 'puppy gang,' 'lawyer Tuy’s wife,' and 'Nam Kanchai’s subordinates.' The phrase 'Nam Kanchai’s subordinates' reflects Poo’s honest belief that at the time, several people, including lawyer Tuy’s wife who acts as Nam’s authorized representative and accompanies lawyer Tuy in all proceedings, were involved. So it was Poo’s sincere understanding. However, the defense rests with the court’s judgment. There is no certainty that Nam actually sent subordinates; that is a misunderstanding and distortion. Even if spread publicly, legally those words must be verified."
Can you confirm Poo did not mean that literally?
Poo: "I am confident. I believed sincerely at the time. Lawyer Tuy’s wife is no longer involved with the case but attended every time."
Lawyer Sampee: "Regarding the 'puppy gang,' it does exist—lawyers Decha, Tuy, Khun Duan, Khun Kung, and Khun Lukmee all wear 'puppy gang' shirts. Poo understood that they came as a group. This is also in the court record."
How confident are you that on 31 August the court will accept or dismiss the case?
Madam Sampee: "We cannot predict if the court will accept or dismiss. But we are confident that at trial we can present evidence to refute every allegation. If the court dismisses at the preliminary stage, we will be very happy. If not, we are not worried because we have prepared defenses for every count."
On 13 August, there is an issue that could change Poo’s life—a good news for Nam Kanchai but bad for Poo Mantana?
Madam Sampee: "It doesn’t change her life. It relates to the public prosecutor’s indictment at Thonburi Court. Whether it changes life, we don’t know. The prosecutor’s indictment doesn’t mean the court will follow. We are confident we have evidence for trial to refute all allegations. We don’t know who’s life it changes because we’re confident in our defense."
The prosecutor has already indicted, so at trial we are confident to refute everything. On that day it will likely be just bail. It won’t be difficult for Poo. We have prepared everything, including bail money, which is ready. Poo currently has brand sponsors supporting her. Also, Poo intends to post bail for Lukmee’s case before the appellate court’s decision within three months. The amount is about 1.7 million baht, which we will pay as ordered."
Poo: "We follow all procedures as before. Regarding the amount to post bail, we will follow the court’s judgment."
Regarding the three proposals offered to Nam Kanchai to drop all cases if accepted, but Nam refused, so do we have to start over?
Madam Sampee: "Today the court showed mercy, seeing no benefit in continuing disputes. Thai people have compassion, forgiveness, and offer chances. The court wishes them to talk and hopes this will be the last case."
Will Poo stop posting altogether?
Poo: "The court doesn’t want further cases. Madam’s mother took me to chant, worship Buddha, practice Dhamma, and let go with forgiveness for everyone. I feel better, though the same groups still try to provoke."
Madam Sampee: "I told her if she doesn’t want to see anyone, just block them. Dhamma helps a lot and calms her down. I told her to tell me anything, and I will explain to society in a positive way. Sometimes Poo struggles to communicate clearly about her thoughts, but we understand her and can explain her views."
The court reminded both sides with Buddha’s teaching: 'We have stopped; have you stopped?' What reflections arise from this?
Poo: "I have stopped for a long time, paused for a while, but still got provoked as everyone has seen."
Madam Sampee: "If everyone stops, there will be no issues. If both calm down, they might discuss details as the court kindly suggested, hoping this is the last lawsuit between industry peers. The court told Poo her problems stem only from Lukmee’s case, which can be resolved by posting bail so Lukmee withdraws the case."
Regarding Nam’s case, it shouldn’t be problematic and can be reconciled. He’s not harsh and communication is possible. The issue is they do not talk."
Poo: "I will not post anything anymore."
Madam Sampee: "She cannot post now. Sponsors supporting her forbid posting too. These sponsors are her work, but she prefers to stay anonymous. So with the bail payments, things should settle well once Poo pays Lukmee in full."
Why did Poo use a cane today?
Poo: "Yesterday I slipped and fell. I was wearing slippers and a long skirt inside the house, so I slipped."
Madam Sampee: "She had bad luck but from now on will have only good luck."
