This morning (13 Aug 2026 GMT+7) Poo Mantana appeared as scheduled at the prosecutor's office after being indicted and sent to Thonburi Criminal Court in Chom Thong district, Bangkok, as the defendant in a case where Noom Kanchai filed charges of defamation by advertising on 12 counts, after Poo Mantana posted vulgar insults on her personal social media, naming and not naming him multiple times.
In this case, Noom Kanchai initially filed a complaint at Tha Kham Police Station in July last year before the matter was forwarded to the Thonburi Provincial Prosecutor's Office, which filed charges against Poo Mantana and sent her to court this morning. Accompanying her were Ajarn Mana Wandi and Madame Sampee, Poo Mantana’s personal legal team, who came with prepared bail assets and submitted a request for temporary release to fight the case according to legal procedures.
On the plaintiff's side, this morning lawyer Toi Pornsak, Noom Kanchai’s personal lawyer, came to represent him by filing an objection to the bail request.
Regarding this, lawyer Toi said he was not worried as he was fulfilling his role as a lawyer because the impact was severe. Asked about confidence, he said he was confident in his prepared evidence. Whether bail would be granted was up to the court’s discretion. He added the case was not severe but continuous, since nearly 700 pages of posts were involved.
He added Noom Kanchai had not instructed him on anything because he was busy and the matter was not important to his life. If bail was granted, the case would continue because Poo Mantana must take responsibility for her posts.
When asked about Poo Mantana’s statement that she used Dharma to calm her mind, lawyer Toi commented, “That’s good, but she should have embraced it long ago, not only now when cornered. Dharma is all around. I think it’s too late; she was still insulting me and my wife just last week.”
Currently, Ajarn Mana Wandi and Madame Sampee, Poo Mantana’s legal team, have submitted documents and bail assets to the court, and are awaiting the court’s decision on bail to allow her to continue defending the case.
After the process, Poo Mantana and Madame Sampee spoke to the media. Poo Mantana smiled and said the court granted temporary bail with a surety of 30,000 baht. She stated,
“I was very surprised that lawyer Toi opposed bail in this defamation case when the court has not decided if I am guilty. I have never seen a lawyer oppose bail in a defamation case before. In more serious cases, bail was granted. I’m not afraid of any big move from the other side because I know it’s all talk.” Then Madame Sampee occasionally interrupted to stop Poo Mantana from mentioning others before quickly taking the microphone herself.
Madame Sampee said she was not worried because they had prepared the bail petition and surety. She noted the case was not serious and expressed confidence in the justice process.
She added that Poo Mantana was surprised to be released so quickly since normally she is the last to be released. She thanked lawyer Toi for advising on how to give interviews without referring to others and apologized for any remarks that involved him.
“Everything depends on the justice process. There is no dispute or quarrel between us. Poo Mantana will follow the law and evidence. Sometimes social media trends do not reflect the court’s consideration, as the court does not decide based on social media trends. Even today, despite bail opposition, we had prepared well in advance and everything went well.”
Poo Mantana further revealed that she has now let go. Madame Sampee’s mother took her to chant, visit the temple, and make merit. She has stopped using social media because it caused stress and headaches for three years, making her unable to do anything.
Madame Sampee replied that Poo Mantana has changed, noting everyone has a past and no one is entirely innocent. There may be mistakes, but Poo Mantana now understands how to improve and has turned towards Dharma.
When she strays, Madame Sampee pulls her back, supported by Ajarn Mana. They advise Poo Mantana to speak less, stay on point, and avoid referring to others. They are confident she will no longer defame anyone as they monitor her closely to prevent further cases, hoping everything will resolve well.
Yesterday, news showed Noom Kanchai, Nong Beer, and Khwan’s doctor shaking hands to reconcile. Madame Sampee believes one day there will be a similar day for Poo Mantana, though not yet. But that day will surely come.
