The sudden passing of Ray McDonald shocked his family, friends, close associates, and fans deeply. Close friends such as Leo Phut and Ta Barbie immediately traveled to Ray's home after learning the news from Mam Sarinya McDonald, Ray's wife, who called to inform them in the morning.
Leo Phut revealed, "I was shocked when I heard the news because when his wife called, she was crying hard. At first, I thought they had a quarrel, but when I listened carefully, she told me Ray had passed away. I was shocked and rushed to Ray's house right away."
"Ray didn’t have any known chronic illnesses but worked very hard. We all learned about this at the same time. This morning I hurried over and knew he had fallen asleep and not woken up. I knew he rested little because whenever he had free time, he would go out. He loved traveling, which was a big part of his life, so I think he may have rested too little."
"As for illness and chronic conditions, as far as I know, he was healthy. When I got the news, I was very shocked. I thought his wife was crying because of a fight, but when I heard that Ray had passed, I was shocked and rushed out immediately."
"Did you see each other often? Yes, sometimes. But during Ray’s breaks from traveling, we each stayed apart because Ray wanted to spend time with his child. If your dear friend could hear you, what would you want to say? Leo Phut said, "I believe Ray’s journey isn’t over. It’s just changed form. He will continue traveling as someone who wants to see and know everything. He has seen a lot in this world and probably wants to see what the next world is like. I want to tell him to travel safely, be lucky, and rest sometimes."
Ta said, "I don’t even know what to say. We understood each other. It was like a mutual intention. He and I talked often: ‘It’s okay, we know, Ray, it’s okay. Be happy.’ That was it."
What do you think Ray cared about most? Leo Phut said, "I believe it was his child, his mother, his wife, and then probably his work. But he cared least about himself. That was just who he was. But he had been tired for a long time."
