The Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (Children’s Hospital) is committed to continuing the royal mission of caring for Thai children's health, the nation's future, by sustainably improving the quality of life for pediatric cancer patients. Medical statistics in Thailand show approximately 900–1,000 new pediatric cancer cases annually. Leukemia is the most common, accounting for nearly half of all pediatric cancer cases. Although childhood cancers have a high cure rate of 70–80% when detected and treated promptly, advanced treatments like bone marrow and stem cell transplants still face limitations due to the lack of sterile negative-pressure laboratories and specialized medical equipment.
In response, the Children's Hospital Foundation and the Chalermprakiet Building Fund launched the “Little Miracle: The Life Miracle to Help Children Defeat Cancer” project to raise funds for establishing a bone marrow and stem cell transplant unit. This objective has now been successfully achieved. To mark this, a “Donor Appreciation and Visit to the Children's Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center” event was held on Thursday, 20 August 2026, in the meeting room on the 16th floor of the Chalermprakiet Building at the Children's Hospital.
During the event, the host welcomed attendees and presented a video titled “The Life Miracle: Helping Children Overcome Cancer.” Dr. Akom Chaiveerawattana, Director of the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, honored the event as chairman and expressed gratitude to the generous supporters of the project. Dr. Isnarn Hoonnuan from the Hematology and Oncology Department shared case studies and treatment outcomes of young patients. Attendees also met the charitable young actor Gulf Kanawut Triipiphatpong, project ambassador, who thanked donors and joined a press visit to tour the fully equipped Children’s Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center on the 8th floor of the institute.
This event expressed thanks to all benefactors who contributed through the “Little Miracle: The Life Miracle to Help Children Defeat Cancer” project, which began in 2025. The donations have been put to effective use, enabling supporters to take pride in knowing their contributions have tangibly saved and renewed the lives of children with cancer—helping these young patients today and into the future.
Gulf Kanawut Triipiphatpong, project representative, shared his heartfelt appreciation: “From the beginning of this project, I am very proud that the kindness of all Thai people and generous donors has come together to realize the goal of establishing the Children’s Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center at the Children’s Hospital. This press visit clearly shows that every baht donated has been transformed into laboratory facilities and medical equipment that create ‘miracles,’ giving children a new lease on life, allowing them to recover, return to their families’ embrace, and grow up to pursue their dreams normally. I sincerely thank the Children’s Hospital Foundation and all donors for joining together to strengthen Thai children's health.”
Beyond successfully establishing the bone marrow transplant center, the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (Children’s Hospital) continues its relentless commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare, the nation's future. The institute is preparing to step forward with CAR-T Cell Therapy innovation, a technology that uses patients’ own immune cells to fight cancer. This represents a new hope for treating pediatric patients resistant to chemotherapy.
