Is Nong Gle skilled and agile on stage?
"Right now, she enjoys role-playing. At home, she likes to play shopkeeper, cook, and prepare food. Connor is like her own restaurant kitchen. Sometimes she watches Aunt Jieb closely and imitates her. In her world, she can do everything—she can swim and ride a two-wheel bike. She believes she can do it all, including cooking. When she talks, she says things like, ‘Gle can do it now, I can swim, I can do this.’ We don’t stop her because it shows her confidence and belief. We ask, ‘You did it? How? Tell us.’"
Is she currently interested in foreign languages?
"Is she interested? At home, there are some activities but I’m not strict about levels. Instead of being idle on holidays or school breaks, she prefers to do activities like learning Thai, Chinese, music, and sports. This applies to her older sibling too. They keep learning various things. We focus on her mood and often ask what she wants to study each week. When I or Aunt book lessons for her, we check if she’s okay with them."
As she grows, what are the plans regarding her work or goals in accepting jobs?
"We focus on her. If she enjoys and is happy, she continues. If she starts feeling tired or not enjoying something, that’s the end of it. Honestly, I didn’t expect she’d continue this long. Compared to her older brother, when he was three and filming ads, he was already less enthusiastic. But yesterday, she still enjoyed filming. She gets excited every time. We’ll keep monitoring, prioritizing her happiness and mental health."
Is there a chance she might grow up to be an actress like her mother? She has already acted in a movie once.
"At this age, with studies becoming more intense, if the work takes too much time, I probably won’t let her take on much. Honestly, I won’t have her accept much work now. But if she reaches adulthood and can manage her life and likes it, then we can discuss it again. I think she’ll gradually fade out according to her interests."
Is Nong Payu preparing for another car race?
"Yes, the race is on Sunday. He is currently practicing at the track. We haven’t had a chance to interview him about his readiness. We were in Australia for two weeks during the break and just returned for the new term, so he needs to shake off the rust. We haven’t talked about his expectations yet, but I told him to just have fun. Whatever happens, parents are proud. Of course, it’s natural he feels some pressure."
Has he won a championship before?
"Yes. Imagine as adults we feel pressure; he surely feels that too. It’s important we tell him to enjoy fully, whatever the results, parents support and are proud."
Were you surprised by how serious he is about racing, given its dangers for kids?
"It’s something he gradually got into. Before coming to Bira, he had about a year of experience. We thought it was worth trying. Injuries can happen in any sport."
Will he keep the same car number? Many are hoping for luck.
"For this race, yes, the number remains the same, though it probably won’t repeat exactly. On Sunday, the whole family is going to cheer. Grandma will drive the pickup and bring som tam and other things. We’re also preparing prayers."
Who is the most tired from preparing to go cheer?
"I think Aunt Jieb. She packed a lot. Many want to come cheer, so she has to prepare space. She wants everyone to be comfortable and not struggle, especially because it’s hot."
