He was another close and dear friend of Rae MacDonald. and Chakrit Yamnam. For Pele Christopher Washington, the former host of the popular youth show Teen Talk, who has stood by his friend for several decades, almost becoming like family to each other.
At the funeral and cremation of Rae MacDonald, Pele carried out every duty to give his friend the best farewell.
Recently, Pele posted a message sharing the lifelong relationship and friendship with Rae MacDonald after his friend's passing. Pele recounted that they had been friends since childhood and traveled together to create many works, starting from the Teen Talk era, We're Za, to legendary shows such as Roaming, Sutkhet Festival, Journey Thailand, and TT Rider.
In the early days, Pele acted as a one-man producer, filming and editing by himself, while Rae was the solo host. Their travels before Google Maps relied only on Lonely Planet guidebooks and a work style called “The Plan is no Plan,” which became a signature that brought authenticity and freshness to the shows, winning the audience's hearts.
He also revealed two secrets Rae never knew in life: Pele once opposed making TT Rider because he lost his mother in a motorcycle accident when he was 15 and had promised his father never to ride motorcycles again, fearing loss. But he eventually gave up that promise to not stand in the way of his friend's dream to travel.
Another secret is that Pele took out life insurance naming Pho and Mika, the sons of Chakrit and Rae, as beneficiaries because Pele has no children. He intended to be a “backup plan” for his friend's family, vowing to care for his nephews if anything happened. This was known to Chakrit but Rae never knew because Pele feared his friend might reject the idea.
Pele concluded by saying, “Friend, don’t worry. Chakrit and I will take care of your children.” He also urged everyone to cherish and nurture their friendships, and if there are conflicts or unresolved issues, to forgive and communicate before it’s too late.
