The story unfolds in 1899 Paris, the capital of seductive beauty, boundless luxury, and the intersection of bohemians and high society. Christian, a young American writer full of love, meets Satine, the shining star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub, and they fall deeply in love.
But this love is not without thorns. Harold Zidler, the owner of Moulin Rouge, and the wealthy patron Duke of Monroth, who believes money can buy everything—even Satine’s heart—pose major obstacles. Christian teams up with bohemian friends like Toulouse-Lautrec, the hungry genius artist, and Santiago, Paris’s greatest tango dancer, to create a spectacular musical show to save Moulin Rouge and win Satine’s heart.
