Kwan Usamanee Explains Why She Came Forward as a Witness After 4 Years: Seeking Truth, Not Attacking Anyone

Regarding the issue that Kwan Usamanee would come forward to give testimony as a witness in the case where Tangmo's mother filed a complaint against Krit for allegedly submitting false evidence, Kwan recently attended the scheduled meeting at Nonthaburi Police Station and gave an interview alongside Professor Panthip Puaipongphan about this matter, revealing the reason why she waited 4 years to speak out.

Kwan came as a witness. How much do you think you can help clarify this case?

"I am here to speak about the facts and accurate information, but ultimately, all facts must be based on the gathering of information and evidence. Tangmo is fortunate to have a working group with Uncle Sonthi and Professor Panthip. Today, I believe I can provide information that will help the investigators, prosecutors, courts, and police have more systematic and clear data. In the end, I trust the police will uphold justice."

Kwan said she came as a daughter of a police officer. She is not here to accuse anyone of wrongdoing. She supports and stands by the good police officers who sacrifice to uphold justice. The picture behind me shows that most police serve the public well. We do not call those who commit wrongdoings police officers of bad character."

When did Kwan first learn that her photo was used in the case files?

"I only found out last Sunday when the professor called me. Thai people, whether in the country or abroad, always support Tangmo, and I do too. But I had never seen the documents or known that my boat information, where I was present, was distorted or that any misinformation was presented."

Had anyone asked for the photo before?

"I do not personally know them. The only person I know well is Tangmo, not anyone else."

What about the evidence revealed today?

Professor Panthip said, "This could not have happened today regarding the photo timestamp of 20:32. First, if the evidence was not used in the case file; second, if Tangmo's mother had not changed her mind to allow me access to the documents as an authorized person; without changing legal teams, there would be no access. We recently discovered the truth, but it’s not that we didn’t know before; we knew but had to conclude the official investigation first. Regarding citizens like Krit, we found the documents in the case files were untrue. So it’s not surprising that Kwan didn’t post or discuss this 4 years ago, thinking she was not involved. But when it became known that photos were taken by someone else from afar and claimed to be of Krit and Tangmo, I said that was not true. Once Kwan learned the truth, she quickly cooperated, telling the truth and testifying about her own photos at that time."

When we found out who took the photos, we also learned who posted them and who owns the boat. Knowing all that, we knew Kwan was on the boat and someone posted the photos — at first we didn’t know it was Kwan, but someone said Kwan was on the boat because she posted on her Instagram story. I was unsure, but when Kwan sent the photos herself and showed what was in them, we knew for sure it was the same day at Rama 8 Bridge but at different times, on different boats, with different groups. This greatly affects the case."

Why didn’t Kwan express her intention to speak out that night?

"I would say that the river has more than just two boats. When giving information or facts, we must consider if the timing matches. At that time, my boat was not part of the case. We did not know if the other boat was mine because nothing indicated that or that the photos were internal information."

I only found out from Professor Panthip last Sunday when he called to say the photo was in the case files. I am a private citizen and cannot access police documents. I didn’t know if the information was distorted or inaccurate."

But I act as a citizen and as a daughter of a police officer who believes in standing up to preserve what is right. Now that there is a need for me to speak, I do. Otherwise, it is not my place to interfere in other matters, which only causes confusion and conflict."
