She is another strong woman in the entertainment industry. Ploychompoo Jannine Parawie Weigel, the Thai-German singer who has gone through many experiences, including a difficult period when her bank account balance hit zero and she had to ask for help from a friend, who was the actress Ploy Sornarin.
On her Facebook, Jannine Weigel posted a clip sharing this story with the caption, “Before we get through each chapter of life, thank you to all the problems that show us how lucky we are to have people who love us around us .”
In the clip, Ploychompoo says, “I was about to go to T-POP Stage for the first time, but I didn’t even have money for gas to drive there. During my comeback with the song LOCATION, it was a very testing time. At that time, I had problems as many probably saw in the news. I had just held a press conference and paid a large lawyer’s fee, and had just finished the song and MV, so I had no money left. It was like I had bet everything on this.”
When it was time to promote the song at T-POP Stage, I happened to run out of gas. Workpoint was far away, and my home is in Lat Krabang, Samut Prakan—not even in Bangkok. I knew if I didn’t fill gas, I definitely wouldn’t make it. The situation was that I only wanted to be able to make the round trip that day, but damn, my bank account was zero.
I was stressed because I had to leave the house, but I didn’t know what to do. I had never needed to borrow money from anyone before, but at that moment, I felt there was no other choice. Life was really tough. For the first time, I had to bite my pride and ask a friend for help.
The friend I asked for help is very kind, my best friend for over ten years. Since I’m sharing, I’ll mention her name—she’s “Ploy Sornarin,” the actress many people probably recognize.
I don’t remember exactly, but I think I called Ploy and explained the situation, saying it was like this but I’d have money today and would repay as soon as it came in. Of course, my friend understood because she saw what my problem was. But I felt very ashamed because... imagine, I’ve worked since I was a kid and felt I shouldn’t be without even 500 baht.
But the help my friend gave me that day was a touching moment. Oh! Talking about it makes me want to cry. That 500 baht she lent me then meant so much to me.”
Ploychompoo’s eyes welled with tears but she tried to hold back before continuing, “Until today, I don’t know how to repay her kindness. I really want to thank Ploy a lot. Actually, I feel that stage was part of why my comeback succeeded. I hope everyone will support my friend a lot. Besides being very kind, Ploy is also a talented and skilled actress.”
Finally, I want to thank everyone who supported me that day. Honestly, without my friend’s help and everyone’s encouragement, I might have given up.”
