It became a hot topic when the actress Kwan Usamanee Waitayanon came forward as a witness in a case where Mrs. Panida Sirayuthyothin, the mother of the late former actress Tangmo Nida, also known as Tangmo Pattharida Patcharawirapong, filed a complaint against Kratik Ichcharin Jutasuksawat, Tangmo’s former manager and close friend, accusing her of submitting or citing false evidence in the investigation file, on the morning of 2 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at Muang Nonthaburi Police Station.
Recently, the program "Khao Sai Khai" on Thairath TV Channel 32, hosted by Moddam Kachapa, Rotmay Kanungnij, and Mint Orchporn, interviewed Kwan Usamanee about why she only now came forward as a witness in the case concerning Tangmo Nida.
Moddam asked directly, "Why after 4 years, are you suddenly a witness today? I'm serious—4 years and 6 months. Why now?" Kwan replied, "I only found out last Sunday. Professor Panthep called me because he reviewed the case file, and in file J.90, the boat pictured was supposedly the same boat from the case."
Moddam said, "So basically, on the day of the accident, 4 years and 6 months ago, you were also on the boat with them, right?" Kwan responded, "I was on my own boat. I wasn’t on the same boat as Tangmo. I went with a group of friends and seniors from a course I was taking. I took photos and showed them to Professor and P’Eak to verify where I was."
"But those photos were from a long time ago, collected from friends. The key point I learned from Professor Panthep, who investigated the GPS data to find out whose boat it was and who was on board," Kwan added.
"It all connected, and it turned out to involve me, as I was on the boat on the 24th with friends, although I didn’t know Tangmo was there that day. I was live-streaming and taking photos and videos. After that, I put my phone down and hung out with friends. I wasn’t aware of anything until I got home and heard the news about Tangmo the next evening."
Moddam asked, "So, now that you’ve come forward as a witness, what exactly are you testifying?" Kwan answered, "The photos are of my boat, not someone else’s. Professor Panthep and Professor Eak clarified that the boats are different. My boat has an Inboard engine, while Tangmo’s has an Outboard engine. I’m not sure about the exact nautical terms, but the engine placements are different—hers is visible above, mine is underwater."
Mint Orchporn asked, "What did Professor Panthep tell you when he called?" Kwan replied, "We briefly discussed that he was handling Tangmo’s case, which I already knew. He asked if I was on the boat on the 24th at the place Tangmo went. I confirmed I was, and he asked if I had location data or anything on my device. I shared what I had."
Moddam said, "It’s been 4 years and 6 months, right?" Kwan said, "Yes, so I sent the info to the professor, and we discussed it further with others at Ban Pra Athit. Friends who were on the boat helped gather photos and info."
Moddam asked, "Did you learn anything new from those discussions? Is this murder, accident, or what? What did you overhear?" Kwan replied, "I didn’t overhear anything secret, but everyone likely knows the hypotheses. The evidence is leading toward the conclusion."
"We pray the judge, prosecutor, investigators, and police, now armed with new documents from Professors Panthep and Eak and Tangmo’s mother, can build a clearer case. Hopefully, the case outcome will be accepted by all," she added.
Mint asked if the case will be reopened. Kwan said, "I don’t know; you’d have to ask." Mint continued, "So the new info and evidence concern the boat photos that everyone, even in the case file, thought were Tangmo’s boat, but it’s actually your boat, correct?"
Kwan confirmed, "Yes. But this info wasn’t public before; it was in file J.90. If Professor Panthep hadn’t reviewed the file, none of us would know. We thank Tangmo’s mother, Professor Panthep’s team, and Mr. Sonti for this."
Moddam said, "That’s why people ask why Kwan only appeared now, after 4 years and 6 months. We let her answer directly. What will you do next, Kwan?" Kwan said, "What can I do? Maybe live-stream every day so everyone can watch over me."
Moddam exclaimed, "I asked what you’ll do with the case, not what you’ll do personally. I already know you live-stream every day, crazy!" Kwan replied, "No, it’s to have everyone keep me company, to protect me. If anything happens to me, everyone is responsible for my life and taking care of Uzi and my mother."
Rotmay said, "She said if she’s harmed, people should investigate. Kwan posted that." Moddam added, "She’s afraid for her safety, so she live-streams to have protection, so if something happens, people will know, right?"
Kwan agreed, "Yes, but if we’re scared and do nothing, it’s not what my police family taught me."
Then Mint said, "Viewers sent many comments praising Kwan for courage to be a witness." Kwan asked, "What show is this?" causing Moddam to shout, "Khao Sai Khai! It’s over!"
Kwan added, "I thought I was still with P’Mail. I ran up and heard her voice; Rotmay said, ‘Yes, Moddam is hosting with me.’" Kwan said to Rotmay, "Oh, I miss you, haven’t seen you." The three hosts thanked Kwan and ended the call.
