Napat: Yes, many people have seen me since I was young. Actually, I've been in the entertainment industry for over 10 years—not exactly 10 years, but over a decade. Today is the first time I've received a Best Actor award, for the role of Lord Maha Uparaja Mangjizawa in "Hongsawadee." I'm happy. I received it at the Pattaya Film Festival. My director, P'Pui, also received an award for Best Series. I'm very happy and excited. We really appreciate it. I dedicated myself fully to this role. I'm glad many people liked it and thank the judges for recognizing my talent. I'm very proud. It's my first award ever. Thank you very much.
How do you feel about this award?
Napat: I'm happy. I put my all into this series last year. I devoted myself to "Hongsawadee" and the role of Lord Mangjizawa. As I said, I've had the chance to visit Myanmar several times, and this role is of real royal lineage from Myanmar. All characters are based on real historical figures. Recently, when I flew to Myanmar, I promised the Burmese people I would represent Lord Mangjizawa as best as I could. It feels like my goal was fulfilled. There's a small happiness inside me.
How do you thank him since he helped you win the award?
Napat: Yes, I don't know where he is now or what happened, but I still think of Lord Mangjizawa often. Honestly, I still remember the dialogues and events vividly, even the visit to the palace in Hongsawadee. I remain deeply connected to every word I spoke portraying him. Thank you very much.
I feel honored once in my life. Also, during filming, everything went smoothly. I'm not sure if he blessed me or not, but I thank the heroes of Thailand and Myanmar who fought for many things. Today, we did our best representing the industry, including me, P'Tri, and many others in the cast. Thank you very much.
Did you feel he was with you while acting?
Napat: I wouldn't dare say that. (Do you mean that you were immersed or believed?) I believe. I believe in the role and every word I said while portraying Lord Mangjizawa.
I heard you went to Hong Kong?
Napat: Yes, I went to Hong Kong for a trip. (For running too?) Yes, but I think I have to pause running now. Many people have seen me passionate about marathons lately. I call it marathon season. I was training to run in Berlin and Chicago, also as a headphone brand ambassador, which I'm proud of. I trained very hard.
But you just decided yesterday to withdraw from Berlin and Chicago?
What caused the injury?
Napat: It wasn't from training. I don't know exactly what caused it—something happened on my bed. (Wrong movement?) Not what people might think. I was lying down and turned over, twisting my knee. (How did you feel then? When you moved?) I heard a popping or clicking sound and felt pain. I got up at 4 a.m. and called Dr. May, my close friend. It was very painful in my left knee.
For the past three weeks, I didn't tell anyone, but now I have to because many people sent their support, expecting me to finish the Chicago and Berlin races. But it was an accident.
How have the past three weeks been with the injury?
Napat: I've had several doctors caring for me, including Dr. May. Thanks to Dr. May and P'Yui from Dr. May Clinic for close care. I visited the hospital often, even on days off from filming. Dr. May, who was on P'Toon's team before, took great care of me, as did the whole team. Now it's just about recovery and rest.
Do you need surgery or just physical therapy?
Napat: Fortunately, several doctors say surgery is not necessary. But I need time to rest and must stop sports and running for now.
How did you feel when you called to say you couldn't go to Berlin despite training hard?
Napat: Given my training schedule, I wake up at 3 a.m. and practice regardless of how heavy the filming is. From the first day until three weeks ago, I was sad, but no one wants an injury to happen. P'Bow arranged my schedule so I was ready to compete and bring home a medal for Thailand. But it was an accident, and I have only one coach.
Many athletes told me this is normal for athletes. This year, I'm considered an Elite Runner. I gave my all. No one wants this. Now, I just have to accept it and thank everyone for the support. When I run events and meet hundreds of people, they cheer me on. It's okay. I will rest now and come back to compete next year.
How many months until recovery?
Napat: I can't say yet, but it's been three weeks since the injury.
Did anyone take care of you on the Hong Kong trip?
Napat: I went to Hong Kong to take care of myself. (Did you take care of anyone else?) Took care of everyone. We went as a group. (Two people?) Many people—the 's' means several.

Napat: Show me that promise. Life involves making agreements; otherwise, you'd be attacked alone (smiles). We have to stand up and move up the chain a bit.

Napat: Yes. I'm currently filming with P' Nong Arunrocha at Broadcast Thai Television. This year I played a role for the Hongsawadee side, and next year I'll return to the Ayutthaya side as a forest bandit of Ayutthaya. I'll act alongside Nong Freen Sarochaa, Gap, P' Nammon, and many others. It's very fun, and filming is ongoing.
