Ple Nakorn Trembles with Anger as Son Oka Is Knocked Out During Boxing Practice but Grits His Teeth to Win Championship

It was a heart-stopping moment for any father when Ple Nakorn experienced it after his son Oka Nakara Silachai the 14-year-old son, stepped into the ring for the first time at IDOL FIGHT Season 6 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium last Saturday, where he won his first championship.

Ple Nakorn wrote about the time when Oka trained at the Superbon gym for over two months but he still could not accept seeing his son get knocked out unconscious during practice, which made him so angry he cried. But since his son refused to give up and fought back, Ple Nakorn also would not give up until Oka achieved success by winning his first championship. He wrote about his feelings as follows:

"How could you do this to my son? I was furious at Superbon. One week before the fight, I stood by the ring crying, trembling and unable to act when I saw Oka get knocked out unconscious during practice at the Superbon gym. I was very confused, not knowing whether to be angry, scold, or confront the fighter who had trained for three years but knocked out my son who had only been training for two months, unconscious on the practice ring.

For over a minute while Oka was unconscious, tears streamed down without him realizing. My heart felt like it was having a stroke. Meanwhile, all the other fighters stopped training, including Superbon, who lifted Oka, supported him, poured water on his head, slapped his face until he woke up, and said, 'Does it hurt, Oka? Wake up, don't give up. Will you give up or keep fighting?'

Another phrase that eased my anger was when Superbon said, 'Remember, Oka, it’s better to get knocked down during practice than in a real fight. Will you keep fighting, Oka?' Oka nodded through tears as he regained consciousness and wiped his own tears. I went up to him and asked again, 'Oka, will you keep fighting?' He just nodded and said, 'Yes.'"

I asked Oka’s trainers—Nong Oh, Kru Ke, and Kru Chang—why boxing training has to be so intense. That morning, I had just seen Rambo Lek, a world champion, still being kicked during practice until his legs dragged and he shook his head in exhaustion, just one week before the fight.

The next morning, Oka realized that his body needed to be much stronger. We then saw Oka’s unyielding spirit as he worked hard to fix every weakness. It was evident that during the real fight, Oka boxed cautiously and carefully because the injury he got from Kru Ball’s training became his strength on the day he took his first successful step as a true fighter.

I would like to sincerely thank all of Oka’s trainers who devoted every minute to help create this beautiful day for our family. I pay my deepest respects to all the teachers."

Many followers expressed great admiration for Oka’s achievement and fighting spirit, while some said they did not want to see Oka get hurt again and hoped he would return to jet ski competitions as before.
