Fans of the drama "Plerng Phra Nang" were truly impressed after seeing the teaser from this major series "Plerng Phra Nang" Netflix's new version, which had previously sparked speculation about who would play which roles, and as expected, "Baifern Pimchanok" was cast as “Chao Nang Anantip.”
But many were curious about the role of “Tawantip,” played by "Pancake Khemanit," wondering who this character is. Some thought she might be Baifern's character's mother. Recently, Pancake gave an interview on this, saying
Is the character “Tawantip” already introduced in "Plerng Phra Nang"?
"Yes, but it still raises questions; no one really knows who she is yet (smiles). How should I put it? She's a new character. As for how new... well, let me ask P'Tent (Kal Kaljaruek) first (laughs)."
People guess she might be the mother of Chao Nang Anantip?
"Um... how to say this... it might be something like that, but the story might not be exactly what people expect. However, as hinted, she's the spark, the catalyst for everything's beginning."
And the recently released poster really grabs attention?
"It's more of a secret. She's a new character, with new scenes added by the team to add color and excitement."
There are high expectations for this character, as if you have to carry this role. Do you feel pressured?
"Since it's a completely new character, I don't feel much pressure. But there is some expectation about what she'll be like and what she'll do. She is the one who ignites everything. I hope everyone follows the whole story to see how it unfolds. If people like her and want to see more, feedback is welcome. For now, I've finished filming, and as far as I know, the first season will be released at the end of the year, on 3 December."
Are you excited since fans are eager for the airing?
"I already said it might not be what people expect or imagine. The released trailer has sparked many reactions. I think there will be those questions in everyone's minds: Will it be like before? Like what they thought? Or something different? From what I had the chance to read, it's likely a new interpretation based on the original plot. The actors, sets—everything is grand and lavish, with huge investment and dedication. I want everyone to see the new visuals and the performances where everyone really gives their all."
Is the role particularly villainous?
"How does it look from the images? (smiles) Not gentle at all. She's strong and a fighter. Whatever belongs to her must remain hers (laughs)."
People joke that the longer you work in the industry, the tougher the roles you take?
"That's true. Life feels heavier all the time. I'm grateful for every role as they give me opportunities and help me develop various characters I never imagined playing. Maybe it's partly about maturity that helps express each role. These roles are very enjoyable and challenging. They require life experiences I've gathered as resources in my work. So I appreciate all these challenges at this stage."
You've had continuous work throughout the year?
"Yes, all year. Right now, there's the series 'Human Festival' airing on Mono."
So Pancake isn't disappearing or fading away?
"I'm thankful for all opportunities. These are new things this period, both dramas and shows that are new, challenging, and difficult. But I feel if I don't try now, when will I? If I don't do it now, I'll regret not having tried later. I try to manage myself to balance everything. It's been a very lively time in my life this year."
With so much work, do you ever get tired?
"I shouldn't say that. I forbid myself from feeling pain or tiredness. I think I'm doing what I love. I'm grateful for the supportive team and family who understand and encourage me. I try to allocate time to work fully."
