Recently, attention has often focused on the relationship between Nonkul Chanon and Aff Taksaorn because many have noticed their sweet couple photos have become fewer, sparking rumors of a breakup.
Most recently, Nonkul clarified this, saying their love and relationship remain the same. The infrequent couple photos may have caused misunderstanding, but they don't pay much attention to others since they know they're happy when together.
Did you invite Aff to act in your latest film?
"Aff debuted in my first film. But this time, I felt like, hey, I want to work with people who aren’t so close to me—like older colleagues I know—because I want to see how it is directing someone a bit more distant."
When can we watch it?
"Probably quite a while yet. We need to take it around to festivals first, so maybe from mid-next year onward."
What if people have expectations now that Nonkul is directing?
"Don’t expect anything from me. I don’t even know what to expect from myself. Filming is done, the submission is complete, but post-production isn’t 100% finished. We submitted a work-in-progress version first, so there might be minor tweaks like removing shadows or similar."
How does Aff encourage you?
"She said she’d help fund the project, so yes, she’s a co-producer. She’s very free and acts as an angel investor. But I’m a bit old-fashioned—I still want to be the main financier (laughs)."
What percentage?
"Close to 60-40. So she took the co-producer title—bought the position with money or something (laughs)."
How is it having this partner?
"I feel at ease because she said she just wants us to feel like we’re doing this together. The creative choices and final decisions are mine. She’s more of a supporter, cheering me on at the set. She provides encouragement, and also Nong Pee goes to the set too."
Lately, you seem closer to Nong Pee Mai?
"It’s gradual, just as time spent together increases. But we don’t force ourselves to get closer."
Do you find it confusing that previously people watched your relationship with Aff and said it seemed different?
"I understand because I rarely post photos and don’t use Instagram much. Neither she nor I are heavy social media users. So it’s understandable people might think that way. But ultimately, when it comes to a relationship between two people, we don’t pay much attention to how others see it—whether we post a lot or not. We just know in our hearts that when we’re together, we’re happy."
So your love and relationship are solid without needing to show it on Instagram, right?
"Yes."
