The issue has become a hot topic in the collectible and pre-order card toy community, as the popular young singer Jai Thaitasmit opened up about being scammed in a collectible card transaction, losing hundreds of thousands of baht himself, while total damages for other victims could reach hundreds of millions. He plans to bring affected parties to the 'Hon Krasae' show on 16 September 2026 to publicly warn and share lessons from this case with society.
Regarding suspicions and bringing victims to file complaints, “We’re just raising suspicions. I don’t know if we’ll get the money back. Part of me has prepared that at worst, it might not be returned. That’s okay. At least it can be knowledge and useful to others. Some victims have already complained to P’ Ee (Taankun). So, I took the opportunity to bring them along. Like celebrities collecting toys, sometimes they act without caution. I partly blame myself for being scammed.”
On the value of damages and legal cases, “I’m not completely sure about the exact damage value yet. I expect answers tomorrow because experts and the commander of the Cyber Crime Investigation Police will be present. They should clarify all dispute questions. If it’s a civil case, it’s almost impossible to get money back. I had a car case where once it went civil, the defendant requested installment payments. The Thai court system is accusatory; if he admits guilt, the penalty halves. Eventually, he asked to pay 2,000 baht monthly installments. If the scam involved 5 to 50 million baht, it would take years to recover. That’s how it goes with every case. For me alone, losses total several hundred thousand baht. Combined with others under P’ Ee’s care, it’s around 30 to 50 million baht. If we estimate for all parties involved, damages could total several hundred million baht.”
About the accused and contracts, “I have met the accused in person. Other victims differ from me because they only communicated via chat, without contracts. I had a clear contract but still wasn’t safe. So, this can serve as a lesson that having a contract doesn’t guarantee against fraud or breach, because in civil cases, they still seek settlements.”
Evidence and going on the show, “The evidence we have is okay, but ultimately it depends on the police and case officers whether charges will be filed. The accused probably won’t appear on the show because they couldn’t answer many questions I asked. We’ll wait and see on the show. I don’t want to spoil it for P’ Noom (Kanchai) or get the episode postponed (laughs). Actually, I joked with P’ Noom backstage, telling him about the case but didn’t request to be on. It’s up to P’ Noom’s discretion. If interested, he can feature it since monks are popular right now, and the show is busy.”
Intentions behind speaking out, “I’m not trying to destroy the accused; I want fairness for them as well. They haven’t provided any written explanation or clear evidence. I just want them to come for a debate and clarify. Maybe, from another perspective, they might also be victims scammed further. Right now, we don’t know anything.”
Hopes and societal warning, “Tomorrow? I’ll probably have to pick an auspicious colored shirt (smiles). Saying I don’t expect the money back doesn’t mean I’m giving up. We’re still pursuing legal action as much as possible. But at least I don’t want others to suffer like me, whether scammed or breached contracts. These days, people can make money easily but get scammed just as easily. I don’t know if it’s a Zodiac Conflict Year (Pee Chong). This lesson should benefit everyone because pre-ordering or buying online is very common. The information and experience we share should help people be more cautious when spending. The cards aren’t the root cause but just an example. The pre-order scam model happens step-by-step and occurs in every industry.”
