The entertainment industry faces another loss as Ton Chanon Somrit the cheerful young director known for numerous dramas and films, passed away peacefully on 16 September 2026 at the age of 64.
The Darapapayan Facebook page announced Ton Chanon's funeral at Wat Kong Prasai, Hall 2, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. On 17 September 2026, the water pouring ceremony will be held at 16:00, followed by Buddhist prayer services at 18:00. From 18 to 19 September 2026 at 18:00, there will be additional prayer services. On 20 September 2026, at 11:00 there will be a food offering ceremony, at 14:30 the body will be moved to the crematorium, and at 15:00 the cremation will take place.
Ton Chanon's background includes acting in the film "Jenny Daytime, Nighttime" as Paew, and being a cheerful director with a wide range of works. In 2007, he directed the drama "Mon Rak Lottery" and the drama "Kingka Long" for Channel 3. He also directed several other dramas such as "Phiseua Samut," "Mam Kaem Daeng," "Arunsawat," "Nang Klang Fai," and "Nang Khaen."
Additionally, Ton Chanon directed the drama "Game Maya" on Channel One, starring DJ Putt Puttichai, Jui Warattaya, and Beam Kawin, as well as the romantic drama "Long Ngao" on PPTV HD in 2023.
