Usually, the actress Nong Gle the daughter of the leading actress Chompoo Araya A. Hargate is cheerful and healthy, but due to recent weather changes, she caught a cold. Chompoo updated about her daughter's health, confirming she has a cold, and also addressed Nong Payu, her son, who placed 4th in a go-kart race. Although he may have felt disappointed, he learned about the taste of sports and moved on very quickly.
Is Nong Gle unwell today?
"Yes, a little bit. She's caught a cold this week. I think it's because the weather changed. She's a bit fussy."
But she performed well on stage today?
"Yes, because there were many stimuli, things to be interested in, and friends around."
Did she receive a briefing for today?
"Not much, just told she would play games, meet friends, and play rock-paper-scissors (did she meet Pokka-san too?). When I said she could step down after the event was over, she asked if she could meet them again backstage, fearing she wouldn't see her friends anymore."
Does Nong Gle usually not get sick?
"Actually, she does sometimes, like any normal child. I think all parents know that once kids start school, they catch colds or other minor illnesses from school. But it's nothing serious, maybe just some tiredness."
When she has events but is unwell, how do you comfort or heal her?
"Today, she had to rest a lot. Luckily, her school was off today, which was perfect timing. Sometimes there are no events, but if I see she is overloaded or unwell during the week, I might let her stay home or attend half-day. At this age, if she still coughs, she doesn't want to go to school to avoid spreading it to other kids."
Did she get enough rest before coming?
"Yes, she slept a bit more beforehand."
Payu recently competed in go-kart and finished 4th. Is that okay? He didn't seem very cheerful or smiley.
"I understand him. But that's the taste of sports. As a mother, I absorb his feelings. Part of me feels sorry, but another part thinks it's good because he learns that sports involve many factors. In the end, we have to accept that, despite effort, practice, and discipline, anything can happen. This is sports."
Did he say anything to you after the race?
"Of course, there was disappointment, but the kid moves on very fast. I was surprised. Children move on much faster than adults. We absorb all his feelings like a sponge, and as a mother, I feel everything. But soon after, he was off playing with friends and forgot about it."
Was he tired at that moment?
"Normally, I think he was a bit disappointed from the start. Honestly, I don't want to talk much about it since it's past. He probably felt it wasn't his day since problems started in qualifying. But we told him it's okay, the race isn't over until it's over. Even though it started like this, we encouraged him to keep fighting until the end."
Did the whole family come to cheer this time, including grandma and grandpa?
"Yes, more people came than last time."
There was talk from fans that Payu brought luck again?
"Again? (Last time 69, this time 40?) Oh really? I didn't know. What date was that? Oh, two days ago? Okay, I had even forgotten."
Do you see it as coincidence even though it happened twice in a row?
"I think with numbers, you can connect them however you want. There are only these digits from 0 to 9."
What about next time? Will you take a chance?
"Probably not, since I really don't have luck with numbers. I'd rather cheer for my child."
This time, it seems like the business opened more. Were there many customers?
"The som tam (papaya salad) stall (laughs). Just among friends, the cheering team, and the mechanics."
Did grandma Ning also make a lot of som tam this time?
"Correct. She brought all the cooking equipment, electric stove, gas, picnic stove (laughs). She woke up at 3 a.m. to prepare."
Recently, you went to support your friend Emmy Morakot during her loss?
"Oh yes. Like any friends, when we heard the news, we wanted to see how to send support since her mother was in England. She said okay and would update later. They might hold a ceremony in Thailand one day, though I'm not sure what it's called. It's not a cremation yet; more like a merit-making ceremony."
How long has it been since you last saw each other?
"Not often, both busy with our own lives. She's a mother now, so we don't have as much time like before. I told her that once everything is arranged, based on my own experience of losing a parent, I'd explain the process: at first, you're busy with work and might not have much time to be with yourself. Later, there will come a moment when you really feel the absence, but after a while, it will pass. Give yourself time; it's normal to grieve, and eventually, you'll feel better."
Many admire your friendship despite the time that has passed?
"If possible, I will go. The ceremony is only one day. I believe many want to come, but it’s just one day. So I represent our community."
