Over nearly one year, they have followed the matter seriously and have begun to uncover increasingly clear key clues.
New Trick by the Scam Group: Changing Company Names to Hide
When asked if the problematic tour company is still operating, Jaja said she hasn’t seen any activity under the original name since they have been gradually refunding money due to the large amount owed. Jib Wasu added that a common scam nowadays is to close the old company and open a new one under a different name as a front, making it hard for customers to detect unless they dig deep into the background. He warned that scams today can happen with just a fingertip, so everyone must be more cautious and thoroughly check before transferring money.
Deep Background Checks Reveal Many Past Offenses
He continued that after coordinating with police to check the national registry, they found the offenders have a prior history of misconduct. Such facts would be impossible to know just by looking at a screen or general profile. Jaja admitted that when she first transferred money, she hadn’t suspected or done such deep background checks until the incident occurred, revealing the truth.
Identified the Perpetrators, Urging Them to Negotiate Before Arrest Warrants
Regarding case progress, Jaja stated they are currently gathering victims to jointly pursue legal action. They now have detailed information, even about the offenders’ family members, and thus earnestly appeal for them to face the situation and negotiate repayment instead of fleeing. Meanwhile, Jib Wasu revealed the offenders have foreign partners and use international flights to avoid confrontation. They are trying to offer a chance to talk things over peacefully first, but if summons are ignored leading to arrest warrants, the suspects will be arrested immediately upon reentry to Thailand at immigration.
Still Keen on Travel! Outline Stricter Tour Screening Measures
Despite the bad experience, the couple insisted they have not lost enthusiasm for traveling because they believe 99% of tour companies are honest and sincere. Going forward, they will apply stricter screening by visiting physical stores, talking to staff, and personally verifying business licenses. Using this approach in the past has prevented further problems.
