The 2026 flooding crisis has become a hot topic on social media, severely impacting residents in Bangkok, its metropolitan area, and many other provinces. Meanwhile, government aid remains insufficient and sluggish, sparking widespread criticism.
Recently, two veteran actors Took Duangta Tungkamanee and Poo Piyamas Monyakul brought cooking ingredients and drinking water to donate to residents of the Buakhao community at Ramkhamhaeng 174, Min Buri District, Bangkok. In an interview with Thairath TV, Took Duangta said, “There are two of us here now—Poo Piyamas and myself, Took Tung. Meanwhile, two others, Poy Nipaporn Nongnuch and Kob Suk Jarujinda, are already waiting at Khlong Chan with water donations.”
When asked if Bangkok residents had seen such flooding since 2011, Took Duangta replied that the 2011 floods were not as severe. Her village did not flood then, but this year it did. Her mother's house just dried up, allowing her to come out; otherwise, she couldn't have left as she is also a flood victim. Many actors were affected, but Poo was fortunate not to be. Poo Piyamas added that although her own home was spared, she could not accept seeing the news of others suffering.
Asked how they wanted to send encouragement, Took Duangta said everyone is ready to support flood victims. If they can help, they will go—planned for tomorrow—to assist wherever possible. At least they can offer moral support and distribute supplies. Seeing the hardship brought her to tears, as people really are struggling. Her own village was flooded, but she had stockpiled supplies and was not in distress.
Then Poo Piyamas said, “Let me say something. We don't just stand by because we pay taxes.”She expressed strong dissatisfaction with the government’s very slow response.(Emphasized)She added that officials talk but do not follow through with actions.She referenced A. Beer (a spiritual awakening figure), saying he speaks the truth boldly, unlike anyone else, and she agrees with everything he says. Having lived 74 years, she wonders why this is happening. Even though they are not directly responsible, as fellow humans, they must help each other. She questioned why those responsible choose to serve themselves while drawing salaries and using taxpayers' money.”
Took Duangta quickly interrupted, asking her to stop, but Poo Piyamas continued speaking.“I want to speak because I am just one citizen.”Took then said, “Just get things done faster. It’s very slow. It doesn't even have to be the ministers; the Prime Minister can just point and order anyone or any agency to act.”
Poo added, “Order it now; don’t wait. Give us a reason for the delay. Answer us.” She then encouraged everyone, saying, “Stay strong. We take care of each other and will not abandon anyone.”
