He is an actor and a strong-hearted volunteer. "Lek Fandeng" recently spoke openly with "Thairath Entertainment" about the overall current flood situation, noting that conditions in affected areas have improved considerably compared to three days ago. Besides Bangkok, flooding remains concerning in several provinces such as Rayong, Prachinburi, and Nakhon Nayok, as well as areas along the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi Province, which is bracing for incoming northern floodwaters.
"Overall, the situation now is much better than three days ago. Yesterday, I was at Ram Inthra 117, inside a community of about 2,000 residents. We distributed around 1,000 boxed meals. Our original plan was to enter Soi 117, but on the way, we were told that neighboring communities were heavily affected, so we went there instead. Water levels reached about knee height in some spots and half-shin in others."
"In the provinces, Rayong is still flooded, as are Prachinburi and many parts of Nakhon Nayok. Importantly, in Nonthaburi, along the riverbank, they are waiting for the northern floodwaters to flow down the Chao Phraya River. We are closely monitoring the situation to see what will happen."
They said the northern floodwaters will arrive in one to two days?
"Yes, yes. (How are you preparing for assistance?) I’m not sure yet. We’ll see day by day. We just need to prepare boats and other equipment to be ready."
What about the dam in Nakhon Nayok—will it be closed or opened?
"We don’t know about the dam situation. But honestly, it shouldn’t be closed because dams require water gates or spillways to regulate water. Since the dam is beyond capacity, they must release water to reduce pressure. This needs to be handled by the experts who work directly on this."
Does your team need anything special?
"Not yet. We will assess the situation day by day. If we need anything, we will announce it."
Last night, the Prime Minister visited the flood victims and distributed money to the villagers?
"I’m not sure. Politically, we need to see how it is perceived—whether it relates to distributing money and what effects it might have. (Are the villagers happy?) That’s normal, of course. But if the distribution is uneven, that’s when problems arise."
