Opening up for the first time to Thairath Entertainment after losing his father, for Bam Chatchanan Jamlongkul the son of Tong Suraphan Jamlongkul also known as Tong Wong2, Bam shared his feelings alongside former singer Jeab Pisuth Sapwijit, who is Tong's senior singer and currently a member of the Senate. Jeab also spoke about their close bond during their time working together at RS.
Asked about his bond with Tong?
Jeab said, "I signed with RS and met Tong from that day. What I saw was Tong arriving with P'Itthi Plangkoo carrying his briefcase. He was a new generation who could arrange music and write songs. When I first joined RS, I had to adjust my singing style. It was Tong's father who encouraged me, telling me my singing was good.
At first, I almost gave up because no matter how much I sang, I didn't get through. Singers go through this—they work nights imitating others but haven’t found their own style yet. Tong’s father told me my singing was good, which gave me encouragement. Eventually, I passed, and my songs were released.
There were many songs where Tong’s father played bass for me, like the song “Jaew Jing.” Tong’s father played bass, and I personally wrote songs for Tong to sing."
Bam asked, "Did you take turns writing songs?"
Jeab replied, "Yes. Do you know what song I wrote for Tong? 'China Girl.' I wrote that song. Another is 'Song Pen Neung,' which interprets the meaning of 'TWO.'"
Did Bam know Jeab?
Bam said, "Yes, my father introduced me to him when I was a child. (Did your father's friends all remember you?) Everyone remembers me, but I sometimes can’t remember some of them because my father knew so many people. Since I was young until now, my father has been widely known."
Jeab said, "I can say your father was a very kind friend. He never criticized or scolded anyone. I want to ask if he ever got angry or upset with anyone. Your father was a lovely person throughout the time I knew him.
On the day we were to perform a concert in Phetchabun, I had just been appointed a former senator and couldn’t go. But I talked with A-Pae (Pae Hyrok) about inviting Tor (Sahaphap Veerakhamin) and Tong to perform together. We planned to do a concert tour, but because I was appointed a senator, I had to step aside."
How does Bam feel about how much people loved his father?
Bam said, "Yes, from childhood until now, my father worked behind the scenes for many artists. I met many of them since I was young. They came to ask my father for help, and we helped each other throughout. So it’s no surprise that when my father passed, so many came to pay their respects."
Bam just returned from abroad?
Bam said, "Yes, I had to fulfill my duty as a son for my father. He worked hard all his life for his children, as everyone has seen."
What does Jeab want to say to the grandchildren?
Jeab said, "I want to say that Tong gave his whole life to his children. He laid out the future for Pebble and Bambam. Everything he built, he’s watching over them. Pebble was the organizer of the final event for your father, and Bambam flew in from Sydney.
We believe the two grandchildren will mature beyond their years, take responsibility, and understand life. They are already doing well as good children and will become good global citizens. Being in Australia, with language skills, appearance, and personality, I believe they will go far—could be leading men."
Bam said, "Thank you very much."
Supporting the grandchildren as well?
Jeab said, "I will introduce you to P’Gee (Sutthirak Sapwijit) so he can help bring you into the industry (smiles)."
The cremation is this Saturday?
Jeab said, "In the end, people meet and part. I regret that Tong left this world too soon. But part of Tong lives on in Bambam. Your father didn’t go anywhere; he’s still with us."
Bam said, "He lives in me, my sister, and my younger brother. He hasn’t gone anywhere."
