Add Carabao Reveals Reason Behind Song Nene, You’re Awesome Emphasizes Good Society Must Embrace Different Opinions

The song "Nene, You’re Awesome," composed by famous folk-rock singer Add Carabao, has become a widely discussed topic online. He invited quality vocalists such as Pan Thanaporn, Pong Hin Lek Fai, Tik Shiro, Tae Uthen, Phol Phol, and Mamio (former lead singer of Zweed n' Roll) to join in singing, sending encouragement to 16-year-old Nene Royal, who recently won the world-renowned competition America’s Got Talent 2026 (AGT 2026), fulfilling her dream.

However, the song "Nene, You’re Awesome" has received heavy criticism, both positive and negative. Recently, Add Carabao posted a clip playing guitar and singing the song live, explaining the reason behind composing it, stating:

"The reaction to the song ‘Nene, You’re Awesome’ has been really intense. I don’t know why exactly, but I believe a good society must accept and listen to different opinions..."

"I’m still the same as before. If anyone remembers my post ‘Practicing the song with the refrigerator’ on 4 September, you can see the lyric sheet for ‘Nene, You’re Awesome.’ It was the first draft I wrote, using a mouth organ solo, intending to send it to Thierry to show I did what he asked and to hurry up and recover so we could play together again."

"Then one day, while I was jogging, my mind thought, why not invite others to sing and make this song together, like the collaboration with P'Pom Assanee on ‘Cheewit Sampan.’ I thought of Sek, Pan, Pong, Phol Phol, and Tae... Initially, I planned three versions: 1. me and Pan, 2. me and Sek, 3. me and my friends, singers and guitarists. It actually happened but only two versions because the Sek version wasn’t possible — he tours two or three shows daily, which I had forgotten."

"What I see in Praew, or Nene, is that she is a prodigy with determination to become a singer and guitarist, fully supported by her father Narong and mother. Her talent has been built gradually through the family’s hard work, ‘Amloy,’ until she has abilities beyond what artists like me or my friends have."

"I want to encourage her to fly far beyond the horizons of Thailand, America, Europe... The more famous she becomes, the more Thailand and Thai people indirectly benefit from her fame."

"Today, I want to highlight the important part of the song for young people interested in music, taking Nene as their hero, briefly. I will find the first take I recorded of the whole song when it was newly composed to share with you next time... dear friends."
