“Nong Payu” Mechanic Team Responds to Cylinder Sleeve Modification Issue, Confirms Genuine Engine Complies with Rules

The controversy continues regarding the children's go-kart race for ages 8-9 held at the TrueVisions–TOYOTA Junior Kart Championships 2026, Cadet B category, where a protest was filed concerning the engine specifications.

Recently, the team DT Motorsport issued a statement clarifying the facts about the cylinder sleeve of the kart driven by “Nong Payu” the son of Mr. Nott Wisarut and Ms. Chompoo Araya. The mechanic team confirmed that the engine is genuine with the original serial number, no modifications were made, the cylinder sleeve matches the standard certificate as required by the event rules, and the kart passed inspections by officials both before and after the race.

Statement of Facts from SUPER KART THAILAND 2026, CADET B category by DT Motorsport team

Following a protest against the race results concerning Nong Payu’s engine cylinder sleeve, the team wishes to clarify the facts with certification documents from the manufacturer IAME as follows:

The engine is an authentic IAME X30 Water Swift 60cc, with the original serial number and no modifications. The cylinder sleeve is included in the standard certificate 364/H, which is the version specified by the event rules. The factory certifies multiple genuine cylinder sleeve types with identical port sizes and angles in all three certificates. No model has an advantage. The kart passed inspections by race officials both before and after the race.

What is a “One Make Race” and why does Nong Payu’s kart still qualify under this definition?

A One Make Race means a competition using only one brand of vehicle (“make” here refers to brand, not "make" as a verb). All competitors use the same brand and model of kart and engine as specified by the manufacturer in the certification, so that winning depends on driver skill rather than budget.

“Same” in a One Make Race means compliance with the manufacturer’s certificate and event rules, not that every part must look identical or come from the same production batch. Even the IAME Series, which is a One Make Race organized globally by IAME, allows multiple genuine parts in the same engine model. The 2026 event rules also permit freedom in choosing parts such as seats, spark plugs, sprockets, chains, and tires.

Nong Payu’s kart uses a KR chassis from the project, an IAME X30 60cc engine with the original serial number, carburetor, and exhaust according to the rules, with all specs matching the certificate exactly. Therefore, it fully qualifies as a One Make Race vehicle.

We respect everyone’s right to protest and the authority of the Automobile Sports Association of Thailand (ASAT), the decision-making body. We ask that discussions focus on facts and documentation without personal attacks. This is a sport for children aged 8–11 who have trained hard with dedication.

We will continue to follow the official statement from the Automobile Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage (ASAT) regarding this matter.
