When Claudia Jakrapan appeared on the Club Friday Show produced by CHANGE2561 on Saturday, 24 Oct 2020 at 10:00 AM on Channel One 31, she opened up about her long-distance relationship between New York and Bangkok. She explained that choosing love caused her to miss work opportunities. Upon discovering infidelity, she was told she was losing her mind.
What happened in her past relationship? She was undervalued by her partner and blamed herself. She couldn’t even cry in front of him and hid her pain for 11 months, leading to weight loss, insomnia, and dependence on sleeping pills. She didn’t tell anyone, not even her mother. Initially, she planned to sue the third party but ended up thankful because it felt like an angel’s intervention—they both had been deceived.
Balancing work and love?
Claudia Jakrapan: I met a second partner in a long-distance relationship between New York and Bangkok, talking on the phone 12 hours a day, often waking up late at night. We had been married before, so if we lived in the same country, we would live together like cohabiting before marriage.
How did you handle times apart?
Claudia Jakrapan: The first time, I cried but had to go back and forth. Sometimes, that was why I couldn’t accept acting jobs.
You married after 11 years; now it’s been?
Claudia Jakrapan: It’s been 18 years. I have divorced unilaterally by court order.
Was infidelity the cause of the problems?
Claudia Jakrapan: Yes. I initially ignored it, then started asking questions but got no answers—only negative energy.
Did you catch him cheating?
Claudia Jakrapan: When a person enters survival mode, they need to see the reality. The more I looked, the more I found.
Did he behave that way because he no longer wanted to be with you?
Claudia Jakrapan: I asked if we should separate if we no longer loved each other. The answer was that I was losing my mind, even though I had facts.
What was the biggest problem that made you want to give up?
Claudia Jakrapan: Sometimes, when I worked, he thought my work wasn't very valuable. I questioned if I was wrong or failing to fulfill him. That kind of thinking deeply undervalued myself.
At that time, you started blaming yourself and became so stressed you saw a doctor. It was like stacking problems without knowing when they would explode?
Claudia Jakrapan: I couldn’t even cry in front of him because then he’d say his day was bad.
You were so stressed you saw a doctor and lost a lot of weight?
Claudia Jakrapan: I had to see a doctor. At that time, I weighed only 43 kilograms, P’Chod. I looked like skin and bones, couldn’t sleep, and was taking a lot of sleeping pills.
Did anyone in your family know you were going through such a difficult time?
Claudia Jakrapan: No one knew. I didn’t dare tell my mother because I was afraid she would worry. I kept it to myself for over 11 months before she found out.
Until one day, Claudia said she had to thank someone—the third party?
Claudia Jakrapan: Don’t call her that. She is another woman in a similar but different situation.
So basically, both were deceived?
Claudia Jakrapan: We met, cleared the air, hugged to encourage each other, and asked for forgiveness.
