Noon Siraphan Sees Taew Natapohn Case as a Lesson for the Industry, Advises Celebrities to Read Contracts Carefully Before Signing

The issue has drawn significant attention in the entertainment industry after the film "Nakee 3 Khru Ta Nakee" faced controversy over using CG techniques to alter the performance images of "Taew Natapohn Pornprapha" leading her to formally object due to impacts on her reputation and image. Recently, the talented actress "Noon Siraphan Watthanajinda" gave an interview sharing her perspective on the use of CG and AI technology concerning actors' rights in the digital era.

Have you ever experienced CG edits like Taew Natapohn, something you never expected to happen?

"I haven't encountered a case like that before. I think this might be a new issue that all industries will face, using AI in work, and some things may never have happened before. Cases like this probably haven't occurred here, especially in our country. Reflecting on this issue and discussing it is good. Using AI is not wrong. For instance, my face might appear in a short drama now. Protecting actors' rights and works might be a new challenge we haven't addressed. I think it's a good opportunity to talk about establishing proper frameworks."

."

Have you ever acted and then had the footage edited to not match your performance?

"Oh, that happens a lot. For example, today I might be interviewed for 10 minutes, but 5 seconds of some sentences might be cut and reused, and many viewers might not see the full context of what I'm saying. This happens frequently."

"If you ask if it can be prevented, it's difficult. But to do the best possible, viewers might need to think and question where this content comes from. We should help each other. When we speak during interviews, it’s fun and casual, but if someone cuts my lines and others don't know, it can cause damage."

"Therefore, we try to instill ethics and promote better audience understanding. I think this is more important."

Regarding Taew's case in the film, where CG was used to show her chest even though she didn't reveal it, do you think it's necessary to object?

"From my perspective, I don't know the full background, but I think it depends on discussion and consent. Nowadays, PDPA laws exist, and actors must sign consent forms specifying how their work can be used. Just because the law exists doesn't mean consent was given. If there are loopholes, cases like this help clarify and fill those gaps."

"Actually, cases like this make future actors, influencers, or anyone reflect on how much consent they give. There might be laws or regulations to address this more."

"I see it as related to signing employment contracts. We work as hired professionals. Previously, contracts might have been more relaxed, but the world has changed. We have to discuss, and producers must protect themselves. Sometimes verbal agreements are okay, but even written clauses can leave doubts or loopholes, leading to different interpretations. Future work must be tighter. This case might encourage people to read details more carefully."

"As the world changes, we may need to change how we work, especially contract agreements. Nowadays, I have a legal team for every job. Before, if I couldn’t afford legal help, I would use AI. For me, AI is not a problem if used beneficially."
